Imagine you’re an upcoming artist that doesn’t have big backing from anyone and your own city doesnt fw you that much and you really wanna get on. Paying a few hundred bucks for hundreds of thousands of streams can make it easier to have conversations with record labels to get signed so you have some kind of machine behind you. Now imagine you’re an artist that has a name in hip hop but not big in the mainstream. Buying a lot of streams is the difference between opening act and featured act, difference between award show consideration and nothing at all. Things that can if you just are in certain rooms can change your life forever. The purist in me hates it but if i’m an artist trying to blow i wouldn’t think twice about doing it
Could also be Indian, Chinese, Iranian stream farms using VPNs to Montana for this
I dont get why people from say like Iran would hack into people's account to stream a certain song? Like are there really people in that country who get paid by our music industry or sum?
Like point is what do they get out of it?
a tiny amount of money im assuming
gotta get people in poorer countries to do it so you barely pay em and still make money by pushing it to the top resulting in millions of 'real' streams in america
You mean what tops the radio is decided by execs not listeners? No wayyyyyyyy

But I think most of these guys that do s*** like that get f***ed over or f*** themselves over in a quick manner. If it’s not meant to be,it’s not meant to be. No wonder we have so many one hit wonders these days(and most of these hits are forced down people’s throats using social media)
@rhymingrhino lives in Juneau, Alaska
As a resident of Glendive, MT, I denounce these claims about MY city! No streaming farm here just avid music listeners with good taste 😉
labels don't give a f***
this industry is so f***ed up at this point idk how it could bounce back

And like someone said I don’t think there are even streaming farms in that random town of Montana. Probably hackers from other countries pretending to be in that town through VPN
Well put, stuff like this is super interesting. No wonder it’s mainly B-level acts like Nav, Tecca, etc.

It won’t,streaming was put in place to make sure there would never be another Master P/No Limit or even Cash Money again having a singular audience getting them rich without ever needing a labels help to crossover. Now every label controls everything an artist does and now these artist have to use billion dollar establishment platforms to distribute their music.
There’s no work around anymore to be truly an independent artist
