Labels arent spending money on “streaming farms” s*** woulda been exposed quicker than wildfire and im sure these streaming agencies have EXTENSIVE data on who what where of all things consumer and streaming
Right lol like people think Spotify is just going to let Interscope run off with a bag like that.
I’m sure Spotify is soooo f***ing naive that they’re like “wow theres 5000 people in a town of 5000 people all streaming the same song rn” and go about their day
KTT ed asf
It won’t,streaming was put in place to make sure there would never be another Master P/No Limit or even Cash Money again having a singular audience getting them rich without ever needing a labels help to crossover. Now every label controls everything an artist does and now these artist have to use billion dollar establishment platforms to distribute their music.
There’s no work around anymore to be truly an independent artist
idk I feel at some point it's gon be too much
mfs be talking bout their local rapper getting a million views in 24 hours on their first song

what's your point? labels don't buy stream for their artists?

And they know it’s all bought but with no shame, try and claim it’s genuine attention like their not copying the last rapper the quality of artist just took a 180 when it became about views. Too many attention seekers entered the music game.

Very disgusting,I been peeped how rap is just a bunch of class clown ass people trying to rap and lie. This is what dudes from back in the day was trying to predict, they knew rap was gonna be just bullshit if corporate types ever found a way to distribute the way they wanted too.

life was better when you didn't know right
reminds me when reddit accidentally exposed themselves to astroturfing and the biggest traffic was coming from near Area 51 and some McDonald’s corp I think
elaborate
This music industry is just pathetic lmao
All smoke and mirrors
It’s not as fun once you see behind the curtain
I dont get why people from say like Iran would hack into people's account to stream a certain song? Like are there really people in that country who get paid by our music industry or sum?
Like point is what do they get out of it?
My Spotify account most definitely would randomly start playing French Montana and other, waaaaay lesser known artists once I stopped paying for premium. Ain’t listened on Spotify in a couple years now because of it

Well, back then a rapper wasn’t forced to use Apple to distribute their music. People were either buying your CD or not, wasn’t an ecosystem like streaming where someone could manipulate it using computers. It was tougher but if you could capture a certain audience back then and get that audience to stick with you,you had a label.
Exactly how No Limit made their mark,a lot of those albums on that label would just get promo from magazines and they’d still go gold or even platinum. Master P had the urban audience on lock, did all his people right and walked away from the music industry filthy rich and not owing none of these corporate types a penny. These labels saw that and ever since then, they’ve been devising a plan to make sure that doesn’t happen again.
That plan has been in rotation for most of the 2010’s.
