No one could’ve seen this coming. Creatives being able to release music that’s accessible for the entire world. With no old white label executives controlling the artist. The people decide who is popping and who is not. Literally a dream come true.

When people say „streaming bad(im old)“ they mean that they want harvey weinstein type guys to decide which music is avaible and which isn’t. That’s the reality of things.

Of course there are still labels n s*** but they aren’t the gatekeepers they used to be.

What could even be more interesting is that these streaming services would eventually start to replace labels, which would make music even more free flowing

if they figure out a way to not rip off the artists (I guess it's as simple as paying them more) then I might agree

Not going to happen imo. This would just then lead back to the exclusivity war which they agreed to stop.

I think so too, Spotify is doing it already at a small scale iirc. They definitely are going to do it eventually, the labels are the middle man, exactly like how Netflix is doing their own original tv rather than leasing it from studios

Streaming made it easier to put out music and easier for artist not to care about music and focus on memes and numbers. Its like social media for music. Now everybody wants to go #1 at all costs. Artistry has taken a back seat

Streaming pays aight its not bad but i wish there would be a donate button where fans can give you money directly like a patreon

  • May 24, 2020

Streaming services is good because artists can literally just drop whenever they want if they have the ability.

I think it’s the combination of artists freedom and streaming that is great.

I think it's going to end up exactly like Netflix, I don't think they are going to fight for exsiting artist but rather curate the future generations of artist.

started off well but like most trends or shifts, the big dogs figure a way out to monetise it and manipulate casuals into how to consume the music

Albums now have just become long playlists, which is cool if you consume it that way. I’m just more of an album guy, so it’s hard to get invested into the current artists using this method
