Streaming is the future of music I’m not sure where we go from here but it’s still growing

    And that means growing pains

We’re still a year or a few away from the streaming ecosystem being more stable right now it’s super easy to exploit it

    Its terrible for the artists

  • May 24, 2020

also op labels do still largely control it as a result of how playlists work

payola has taken a new form from what it was on radio

That’s true and that’s why blogs and stuff like that will never completely fade away i think. They are needed for exposure.

Labels still control the artist lmao

  • May 24, 2020
    Ooo

They would be the same as labels

Yes I'd think so too, and you're gonna see them being all over those playlists, Spotify can do data a***ysis and see what people are listening to and keep signing/making artist do those type of music. However its going to be much more streamlined for artist to become signed. Actually now that I think of it they could completly reinvent what is considered as being signed, they pay you more per stream but have the rights to your songs. What they do is going to be the same but how they do it is going to be different.

Never used a streaming service in my life yet I never see KTT discussing any artist I've never heard of and y'all are always on that "it makes it easier to discover artist" tip lol Nah, thats what the internet is for lol. Streaming is the new radio. Streaming is just iTunes you gotta always pay for tbh

started off well but like most trends or shifts, the big dogs figure a way out to monetise it and manipulate casuals into how to consume the music

Albums now have just become long playlists, which is cool if you consume it that way. I’m just more of an album guy, so it’s hard to get invested into the current artists using this method

true but whenever you bring that up here people say

"you're complaining about having more music? imagine being so entitled"

You dont use it but judge it i discovered sooo many artists just by their playlist feature which creates personified playlists for you which are a mix of stuff from artists you know and artists you might like that you dont know great feature

But these days places like ktt y’all more about gossip than music

Pretty bad result of projects not sticking with people.

Bro I use to be the same, just pirating any albums that I'm interested in. But there is something about streaming your fav artist at Thursday 12pm.

I buy the album on iTunes

I dont really use that feature because im not tryna hear too much new s*** at once but there’s „your weekly mix“ that spotify creates for you where it gives you a 1-2 hour playlist every week of songs you have never heard from mostly unknown artists seems fair to me

y’all need to use these services before judging them

No it’s not. Look at how stupid some of these artist and fans act about streaming sales.

Not to mention people don’t know how to digest full albums anymore because there’s so much music releasing.

Sure it’s convenient but you could argue there’s a lot more cons than pros.
