Preciate the information @thenewjimmorrison and @Skog
Please post anything else you come across or are thinking about sustainability wise here, really trying to learn more

It is an interesting subject that has developed into a trend these past months. I am fan of vintage clothing and textiles because the quality is better than most clothes on the market, especially military clothing. Vintage military clothing is in a quality that is not made anymore, the textiles are amazing.

I dont know the market in US, but in Europe you can find some cool shops that have specialized in vintage military gear.

You have guys that sell on markets and smaller shops. Information about these places is often something you got to hear from locals with knowledge.

It exists some cool shops that send to other countries. Broadway and sons is one in Sweden that I have good experiences with. Brut is one that seems cool, but i dont have bought anything from them.

the concept behind the clothing is to push the idea of being sustainable/finding sustainable solutions but not sure if the product itself is actually sustainable considering it’s all made of plastic materials (but tbh I dunno much about sustainability so maybe I’m wrong)

what makes it sustainable is that they're recycling and re purposing old plastic instead of producing new plastic. also this looks really f***ing dope

In February I preordered the Snack Shirt - Pink Flower Clamp from Story MFG's AW19 season, EARTHTONE and it just got here this weekend (they give you an estimate of when you'll get it when you preorder and this was within that estimate). Their preorder system is really cool too because you can get discounts depending on how much you spend. Shirt has a boxy fit and a very rich/dark indigo color, really happy with it. Ton of pictures after this -

Closeups of the dye pattern and the buttons (first one is white and each subsequent button reddens/darkens up through the final, indigo button:

    Cool care tags:

What's written on the bag: "This bag is made from natural plant materials and will biodegrade. Reuse it as many times as you like and compost it when you're done."

"Our products are made of organic materials. We dye natural fibres and fabric using earth minerals, leaves, bark, roots, heartwood, fruits, flowers, bacteria and sunlight. To read about this product and more about what we do visit storymfg.com or follow @storymfg on Instagram."

"This label contains a blessing and is composed of waste cotton offcuts left over from production. Please compost to return nutrients to the earth."

Moving this over from the original sustainable thread because of how much I love this shirt.

    beautiful

Nudie Jeans are also sourced sustainably by using 100% organic cotton, being produced under fair conditions and with their promise to repair every pair for free for lifetime. Also a great example imo

I recently started my brand with an indirect focus on sustainability. I’ve been aware if this issue since I read a four pins article like 8 years ago and its always been in the back of my head. Tbh I started sewing by using unwanted clothing to make things and fast forward like 4 years and Im actually doing cut and sew work with the same objective.I honestly don't do it cause its the trend now I do it cause its how I started and I plan on running my brand with this mindset till the wheels fall off.

Bethany Williams, not always wearable day to day, but has a great approach to business practice. Thiis quote is important:

I feel like the word sustainable is really complicated because it >describes lots of different practices, lots of different ways of working. Specifically, what I do is work with different social groups and then also work with recycled, upcycled, and organic materials.

Sustainability is already becoming a buzzword for a lot of brands to tack on to low effort initiatives that actually change little about their approach.
