One thing that Drake and his team understands is that history doesn’t remember criticism from twitter and blog writers.

No one mentions the criticisms that came with a new MJ or prince release.

When you talk about hotline bling or IMF 15 years from now the docs and Netflix specials will only remember how massively dominant they were. The people love it, and the casual listener and the causal fans are the gatekeepers of history and while drake still cares for the hip hop crowd, he plays to that side as well

    Well written.

Nothing you said was constructive because Drake and co are not taking your armchair advice listen to what you love and ignore what you don’t. Let people enjoy things.

When i say nobody should enjoy it? just said his s*** predictable to me, yes we know its gonna go #1 anyways and it doesnt matter what anyone on ktt thinks, im not hating tho im just saying my opinion on a song just like you are. I enjoy a lot of drakes s***. Yall just like taking this imaginary high road and call everyone miserable cuz they dont like a drake single.

I just wish he feels like he doesn’t have to cater to the hip hop side. He’s bigger than hip hop at this point and it’s holding him back from reaching another level of artistry.

Why the f*** are people calling Drake smart as an excuse to jump on the TikTok hype. You don't have to be smart to be like "yo, you can make a lot of money if you make a song that gets hyped on TikTok, let's try that s***"

    Thank you bro

As a drake fan Since 07 I know a lot about bro. He loves the Michael Jackson documentaries, the prince documentaries, he’s talked about studying pac’s persona, etc

    He’s playing for history.

The boat has sailed on him being crowned the best rapper, and I don’t even think he cares much for that title anymore. In his own lane (how ever you describe it) he’s trying to be the Michael Jackson / prince superstar of that.

Literally every major artist in music history does low hanging fruit stuff like this to get a pop hit. For drake, it works because he’s that good. At the end of this s*** no one will remember what the comments in rap radar say about this song the history that the song makes is all that matters

Whats the sound in the beat called

It’s ridiculous to me that people still clamor for some 12 track all rap project at his peak. It’s not going to happen because it makes no sense for him to do that. Why be the best rapper when you can be the biggest artist on the planet that can also rap incredibly well? It also takes a lot of skill to make hit songs. These guys all try and fail, and inevitably hit drake for the layup hit since they know he’s great at it. At this point it’s about keeping the foot on niggas necks for as long as possible.

If drake was tryna be like prince at all then he'd take a hella lot more risks, prince got single lines in songs that are hella more risky than anything drake has ever done in his whole career, stupid ass comparison

This is dumb because he’s taken plenty of risks and I’m not comparing the two

Hell, Toosie slide was a risk

    One dance was a risk

    Hotline bling was a risk

As a rapper who’s on the Kendrick / Cole tier, him singing, making dancehall records, all of those are risks and unconventional

Yea man yall can bump the s*** but when you start talking like this tiktok song that came out when all these kids stuck inside with nothing better to do than make tiktok dances, is some crazy ass risk then idk what to say

Its capitalizing on a moment, not a risk

Exactly. It's felt like he's been playing for something bigger than "best" or "biggest rapper" since Hotline Bling dropped in 2015 and he stated exploring more global sounds and all it's done is make him more successful and further diversity his styles of music by pushing into spaces he wouldn't usually go to sonically. I'm surprised some people still don't understand this. This is much bigger than rap for Drake and it's been that way for a good while now.
