this new record is the real deal??
Issa classic
There's now a Carrie & Lowell for moments when you don't want to kill yourself
I think the mixing is holding this back for me. Everything sounds so mushed together, and not in a good way. There is also a lack of stereo separation, which adds to the mushiness of it all.
I think there is a great project here, but I can’t physically hear it lol

It’s pretty good.
Just wish it was mixed better. Straight mud mix.

Why don’t you try listening to… Illinois, for example, and then listen to A Beginners Mind.
Should be easy for untrained ears to see the difference between the 2
All the high end, stereo separation, and frequency separation is stripped away.
Probably intentional, but the wrong decision IMO
Edit; Hoping for a Dolby Mix

"untrained ears" lol
"untrained ears" lol
Yeah, shouldn’t require a professional to tell the difference between the 2

ah yes an epic baroque/chamber pop with a billion instruments compared to a subdued indie folk album of course the mixing will be the same

Yes! That’s exactly my point, there’s far less instruments but feels far more muddy & low quality.
Just takes away from the beauty of the composition.

idk man, i'm not hearing any stereo mixing problems or anything lol
ofc the mixing is different. Illinois is like an orchestral indie pop album and this one is more like a lo-fi folk album, but that doesn't mean the mixing here is bad

this is not muddy/lofi lol idk what you're talking about

To me, lo-fi doesn’t mean “bad mixing/mastering”, but I digress
