While there’s like three tracks on here that I don’t care for, it’s really good overall.
It’s Your Own Body & Mind would’ve been my favorite song if it was less whispery tho, it’s stupid catchy
this new album is incredible

These were my least favorite albums of 2021, in no particular order:

4. Dune—A very long Zara ad. F-
5. J Balvin—Black face. F-
6. Matrix 4—Ugh. Computers. Hackers. Cyberpunks. Simulated Reality. The 90s. The color green. F-
7. Any band that is still together after 10 years—Please. Break up. Do your solo albums. Move on. F-

13. Covid—Ugh. So over it. Please stop killing us! F-
14. Crypto, NFTs, The Metaverse, etc. — see #6. F-
15. The 90s revival—Please. It was bad enough the first time around. F-
16. Adele, 30—Girl, please. We know you’re 33. It’s on your Wikipedia page. B+

this is so f***in weird and i clearly know nothing about him outside of his music cause i would never think he'd post something like this. lol
especially #7. like it might be valid for a lot of bands but
take him as serious as afx when it comes to s*** like that
Sufjan is a troll

I know he despises it but i'm glad Sufjan received mainstream recognition for Mystery of Love. Greatest original song for a film in the past 22 years.
Ascension is damn overlooked man, some of Suf’s nicest writing and a beautiful blend of electro pop with his vintage sound. I do think the long runtime scared away a lot of people and to be fair, the album does drag at parts but at its climax, fires on all cylinders.

imo if anyone else released it it'd be praised a lot more significantly and maybe brought up in more regular discussion, but contextually from the same guy who did illinos, age of adz, carrie & lowell, etc. people are more apt to shrug it off

Haven’t listened to it since ABM came out. I could do without a few tracks, but I’d lie if I wouldn’t place atleast 4 of these songs in my top 30.
It’s just so damn epic for no reason

I always say Impossible Soul is the most structurally impressive and grand track of the 2010s. If anyone like Frank Ocean, Kendrick or Ye made a 25 minute cohesive track detailing the five stages of grief, we would not hear the end of it. Hell, you see the love Pyramids & Runaway get.
Sufjan gets love from within his scene but I never see his name get brought up when the all time greats are discussed on a wider scale. Impeccable writing & insanely underrated production.
I was so happy he got mainstream recognition for the CMBYN tracks, even though he probably despised it haha
