“Why does this prison look like a planet?”

“I thought Lex was in jail?”

“Wait, Lex and Flag are working together now?”

The average person would have all of these questions if they never watched Peacemaker at all

Can easily be explained without watching…

Do you consider a movie like Guardians 3 to be “goofy”?

That’s the tone I’m referring to, not the heavily jokey vibe of the first one

It will be a mix of humorous space romp and heavy emotional moments

Gunn isn’t the only one that owns that type of story though lol it existed before him and after him in comics film anime and games . Yes gunn is overseeing this universe but come on . In a way yall both right but im going to let yall argue

No s*** man, that can be said about any superhero project ever. That’s never been the argument when it comes to what is “required viewing” for a shared universe

Thanos is easily explained at the start of Infinity War, does that mean the entire MCU beforehand wasn’t required viewing for that movie?

The only DCU project dated for 2027 as of right now is Man of Tomorrow, but they have a ton of projects in development and at least a few of them will probably release in ‘27

Not as much as the first 2 no. Still think it’s gonna be different than that though. Especially since Gunn isn’t directing.

I think it’s gonna be similar to Him (not quality wise)

Not a Jordan Peele-helmed movie obviously but his style and influence is heavily felt on the production side of things

We are 1 movie and 2 shows in why the f*** are you asking me if a movie 20 movies in or so is similar you bozo? Also because he quite literally said he is trying to avoid doing that but all those quotes you sent and you couldn’t find that one…

You like to reduce things to yes or no questions like you are two face so you can say it’s binary and that you are right

If you pause and read what I said cowboy bebop , incal , super girl especially with how she uses her Walkman could be considered Gunn like but have you ever considered Gunn drew inspiration from many sources including these to make guardians

The answer is a simple yes or no. James Gunn is a very prominent director in the superhero film space. Does he or does he not have a very distinct and unique style? Come on man that’s a simple question what are we doing

He is trying to do that, sure, but so far every project has lead into the next one in some shape or fashion… as shared universes tend to do

It’s not a negative thing at all I really don’t understand where the defensiveness comes from

    Shared universes SHOULD be interconnected

That’s the entire point of a shared universe

By that logic no movie is required viewing ever in the superhero film space because everything in a superhero film is always explained away in the first 20 minutes.

You’re acting like Man of Tomorrow is gonna jump in without explaining anything, nobody is saying that

He doesn’t own space opera is my point . Does he have a distinct style ? He wrote Dawn of the dead Scooby doo and guardian of the galaxy vibes are all different . Again reducing things to yes or no questions you learn nothing

Same way I critiqued the Walkman til i remembered how it was used in comic

  • Dec 11, 2025

We’ve only seen 12 seconds of a trailer I can’t say if it’s too Gunn like yet

I’m specifically talking about his presence in the superhero film space

Sometimes the answer is a simple yes or no

Does Quentin Tarantino have a distinct style? Yes

Does Jordan Peele have a distinct style? Yes

Does Christopher Nolan have a distinct style? Yes

Does Shawn Levy have a distinct style? No

Like what are we doing man the whole thing that separates great directors from good ones are the ones that have distinct visual languages. That doesn’t necessarily mean every single film they’ve ever made follows that style.

Directors with distinct styles can sell a film based off their name alone

The hell do you mean I’m acting like that? I’ve been saying the complete opposite saying I expect them to briefly explain the peacemaker stuff that doesn’t mean peacemaker is required to watch before this

You’re so dumb it makes me mad I gotta share the same URL as you dude so I’m gonna let you enjoy your night. I hope you enjoy the trailer tomorrow.

    Bro

You’re telling me that Guardians, The Suicide Squad, Creature Commandos, Peacemaker, and Superman aren’t all similar stylistically?

    Those are five different franchises
