No one does. Coachella gonna get smacked too but not as hard since apparently SXSW’s artists specifically put in a “no force majeure” clause meaning even if they did get shut down by s*** out of their control, they’d still have to pay their artists.

I don't think you fully understand how SXSW actually operates

What are the ticket prices for SXSW and the main demographic that attends the event?

I'm awa5 that it isn't just a music festival if that's what you mean

This is going to really hurt them

Badges usually run up over $500 (wristbands around $100 - 150) though usually if you work for a publication/media outlet/company/etc that is covering the event or has involvement/brand activation, more often than not they buy their employees the credentials (plus you can also get a badge for free if you volunteer). Like, it's not just some big ass party for college kids to do during spring break, it's a massive professional networking conference across the fields of education, tech, film, and music. That plus there are a s***load of businesses and venues here in Austin that depend on the money SX brings in (~$350m for the city) to make it for much of the year, and it's already difficult as it is for entities to operate here with the ever increasing rent prices.

I know this might be funny looking from the outside and I get that, but for lack of a better phrase, a lot of local workers might be really f***ed because of this
