She always been a clown
Pay close attention to who really fw her music like that
imma keep spinning that roan charli and billie
my question is (as someone within said industry) when do we reach that point in these talks when we ask ourselves if the inception of said industry where these practices happen...weren't healthy or sustainable to begin with?
just cause things are doesn't mean things have to be.
Someone is willing to do it, creative jobs are not an entitlement with employment benefits
Everyone in here does not know how the music industry works - this is incredibly normal - the work gets crunched and then the engineer will have a chill rest of year unless he's finishing other projects. A few days of sleep deprivation is not that deep.
"A few days of sleep deprivation is not that deep."
whew lawd you are very wrong on this lol.
if you’re not the significant other, then its a pointless ask
Tons of people are in this position or worse and can’t get out of it only for some moron to say ‘they don’t complain so it’s a cool widespread practice ’

everyone says this but then does the bird box challenge when music directors for big artists, various known touring musicians, etc. be passing away at or before 50.
this profession/music industry is not really that positively conducive towards mental and physical health.
willing to bet 90% of the music (or entertainment) you consume to some degree comes down to a crunch at some point. its not right, its not fair, but people will do what they have to do to put food on the table for their family
if you’re outraged at this, you’re gonna have a tough time when you find out how other industries, artists and corporations work
this is it , albums are not made in the same way a normal job work has to do - it isn't constant - there are cycles where lots of work has to be done and then cycles where there isn't much work

Not disagreeing with you but can you give some examples?
Morons from this thread is why there will never be any kind of unionizing in the music industry whether it’s the musicians themselves or their teams
people are just finding s*** to hate on sza...that's how music production is on that level and has been that way for decades (not saying that its ok)
ppl forget kanye held mfs hostage at mercedes benz stadium in Atlanta
I’m sure some of these niggas favorite artist have had nights like this in the studio with an engineer as well. Yeah it sucks.. but niggas actin like it’s slave work lol

i dont think anyone here is saying or implying its cool. most in here have acknowledged its not always fair.
i just cant imagine being outraged on behalf of a significant other who voluntarily signed up to be the spouse of someone with a demanding career
there’s give and pull with careers like this

aaron spears, casey benjamin (made a thread bout him, s*** actually f***ed me up cause I was at a gig getting ready when the news came out. his solo on glasper's cherish the day was life changing), daniel jones, quennel gaskin, and shaun martin of snarky puppy. most of these fellas died before or in they 50s (very young)
instagram.com/p/C-GLxF5OPl7/?hl=en
both the people in this video (daniel jones and quennel gaskin) playing died before hitting 40.
That's not normal.
from the outside looking in, yes, this industry and working within it is great and is a creative job but the inner s*** that niggas gotta go through and/or neglect is not understated enough.
To tour means your sleep is taking a nosedive. that's gonna f*** up your health over a period of time when you keep doing that. Your diet or whatever you usually eat is also taking a nosedive cause you aint gonna be near a local supermarket and sometimes all you can have is fast food. Mental health? I know homies that have had panic attacks as musicians while touring with *insert superstar name here*
The overarching toll this kind of business takes on people is understated and yeah the reply to this is gonna be "you rather do this than work a 9 to 5" and my (someone that has/is doing both) rebuttal would be, besides the fact that I believe ALL industries don't have to be as they currently are under the guise of capitalism (so the same way I feel about the music industry I feel about the service industry, health industry, etc.) is that this s*** can feel like a 9 to 5 (and in some cases worse cause if you aint "made it" you not even getting paid like its a 9 to 5)

My point wasn’t that we should be outraged because the engineer doesn’t spend time with his wife, I’m saying the people who are doing this lifestyle are unreliable when it comes to asserting their situation, especially when they brush it off as something perfectly normal
Morons from this thread is why there will never be any kind of unionizing in the music industry whether it’s the musicians themselves or their teams
the problem is there are musicians that have talked about this stuff at lengths. The problem is it's too oversaturated with b**** ass niggas that will cross the picket line at first glance.
a well known MD everyone and they mama calls for Super Bowls may or may not have f\*\*\*ed up the current market by undercutting what the previous well known big MD was making and would do what that person would do but for half the price.

I see where you coming from and I'm going to look into these guys. Just mentioning though the touring game and engineering game is very different. Engineers rarely have to do these type of shifts unless its before a big release - I remember watching the Drake footage and 40 was having naps at the studio (or the engineers working for Ye).

true buuuuuut engineers do have their own bullshit they gotta deal with.
I was called to a session of that guy that made gyalis (the "back that azz up" remix song) for keys and homeboy decided to be a diva and waste everybody time for 4 hours and never show up before the engineer decided to just cancel it and pretty much lose out on like $500 (cause the musicians was still getting paid)

Yeah unfortunately this is normal in music, I feel like artists can get big egos and forget how to treat others like human beings. Some engineers love the crunch though when it's with an artist that rewards them.

think that aspect of music (not ego itself, that's natural) is a symptom of the big c word dawg
And yes, if SZA/TDE is giving homie the big bonus then aye all is well to him.
Regardless, crunch shouldn't really be a thing in any business and I think it's fair to at least talk about.
People ITT actually defending this BS.
No wonder we are all slaves of this system, some yall brainwashed af and proud to be slaves
Doing this for a deluxe album that she announced months ago is all time f***ery you know bro was sitting on his couch and he got that call like
What was the image
nobody is sayin being overworked should be championed or normalized but yall are literally more upset than people who were in that room themselves focus that energy towards fighting for people who want it

Why you actin like you was there? You dont know the real feelings of the engineer, you think he gonna talk down on sza in public during album time? Lmao
We judgin the posts she made which are terrible and make her look bad.
Are niggas really going to pretend to be outraged by this? Lol I know we troll on here a lot but..
Only an unemployed bum wouldn’t see anything wrong with this
Yea creating art is a different process than a normal type of job where u just clock out. Sometimes the flow of creativity just happens and you try it capture it before it goes.
But on the other side, that doesn't really apply to much to the engineer who is just mixing, mastering. It's actually better if an engineer doesn't just sit there one session mixing nonstop, you need to let your ears rest
