As OP of the Miike Takashi thread and biggest Miike stan on KTT i must admit Audition is not even in my top 15 favorite Miike films
I respect it though, for it's significance in cinematic history
But it's not a good starting point for his filmography, most of his films are actually a lot more FUN

ICHI THE KILLER is a masterpiece, even the trailer is a masterpiece in itself
Gozu s***s all over Audition >>>>>>
Glad most Miike fans consider it his true masterpiece

Hating? I said its a good movie. But its not a “fun” watch like a lot of his other films
Bro ive seen about 40 im pretty confident in my opinion on Miike
Also u should really check out Gozu i think youll like it since he made it in his Ichi era and most consider it to be one of his best

ICHI THE KILLER MIGHT BE ONE OF THE GREAT FILM OF ASIAN CINEMA
THE CONCEPT AND EVERYTHING ELSE THE PSYCHOLOGY AND TRAUMA OF ICHI
AND THE MANGA SLAPS AS WELL
ranking the Miike I've seen so far:
Audition
The Happiness of the Katakuris
Graveyard of Honor
Dead or Alive
Dead or Alive 2: Birds
Shinjuku Triad Society
One Missed Call
Rainy Dog
Ley Lines
Ichi the Killer
Blade of the Immortal
Dead or Alive: Final
pretty sure that's all that I've seen, big fan of most of those except the last couple

We got very different taste lmao but cool to see someone else on here who has explored his filmography more than your average person
Check out 13 Assassins since you seem to fw his darker but more realistic approach to films. It's a grounded epic with an hour long battle sequence
13 Assassins is fn great. Starts slow but the action is solid. That & Blade of The Immortal
