Ppl are gonna see eventually that After Hours and Dawn FM (AH more than Dawn) take all the things that made those tapes so amazing and all the things that make his pop music so amazing, and meshes them together perfectly.
When all is said and done this new Trilogy will be Abel’s definitive work IMO
you get it
HoB has some blemishes that Dawn FM doesn’t have. Which is understandable since it’s his first project and he’s taken those blemishes and diminished them
there’s no blemishes on house of balloons … that’s why he and frank were considered legends when they released their debuts. make no mistake, it may have been his first project, but he was crafting those songs as early as 2006, countless of demos were probably made.
I haven’t heard Dangerous but I’ve always thought Bad was better than Thriller
Thriller was carried by the music video, not the music itself
What i’m tryna convey is that music like Dawn fm is made for today gone tomorrow. Classics will prove the test of time

I see what ur saying but HOB is far from perfect but that’s what made it so enticing
It was raw and it was real and it was beautiful
That’s why folks were so against Trilogy being remastered back in 2012
What blemishes are those
Just in general, he was very in experienced compared to NOW. HoB still a great project, but After Hours amplified the best parts of HoB and makes it look pale in comparison, but it’s still one of his best.

But how many of Abel’s albums were “here today gone tomorrow” ?
All of his albums make a major splash even if it’s not immediately after release
Starboy is currently one of the most popular albums of 2022

Made for today gone tmrw

You say that like you’re so sure that Dawn FM will be forgotten that’s probably a bias as this albums been meme hated to death

I’m talking from an enjoyability standpoint, yeah sure the drums and mixing are raw, but it does the job right. Those blemishes are really only apparent with Thursday

He’s talking out of his ass
I CAN'T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD;!!;!
SOTL

That’s what I’m saying people liked how raw it was so I understand why you don’t consider them blemishes
I’m in the same boat where I prefer the OG tapes over the remastered bc of how raw they were
But putting my bias aside I can recognize that the music he’s making on AH and Dawn is leagues above what he was doing on trilogy
Abel a legend for giving the people that kept saying he was over after Starboy what they wanted with After Hours as a way of saying “I still got it, don’t you ever forget that, b****!!” And going right back to pop music that actually is good unlike that Starboy s***
thought this was the worst trolling ever until I saw the date
mf was acting like he waited 5 years to drop music

Thursdays blemishes is probably the pacing and sequencing. Going from Life Of The Party to Thursday breaks it in ways I can’t really explain. That’s probably why I was never really into it as much as HoB or EoS
But the individual tracks I like like Birds but some of the sequencing just isn’t good compared to something like Dawn FM

Ur real af that was always the reason why Thursday was my least fav of the Trilogy
Thursday is full of great songs but it just doesn’t work as an album for me
Compared to EOS which is a f***ing MASTERCLASS in sequencing

only from a technological standpoint will ah and dawn be considered superior to trilogy. but yes, i will admit, dawn and ah is basically mastering the mainstream sound which he failed to do on starboy and bbtm

He’s gotten better with writing too.

eh. agree and disagree. yeah sure, thursday doesn’t have a consistent sound throughout. sometimes he singing over dubbed out post punk with heaven or las vegas then singing on an acoustic guitar the next, but there are other traits in what makes an album good. consistent lyrical themes, in which one could argue that it’s his best showing in the trilogy, and maybe second in his discography only behind ah.
