Not an "industry plant" but she has been prematurely fast tracked to the grammy stage and to mainstream platforms all over. and that is whats inorganic about her recent success and accolades. folks are using the term industry plant because that is the closest word they know to articulate what they see happening. I could see her maybe getting one grammy nomination but to actually win the rap album and perform and recieve awards newly created by highly reputable publications is all extremely unwarranted. So again, not an industry plant but TDE is jumping the gun and pulling some serious strings very obviously which they have the power to do so.

This would be like equivalent to if Kendrick won best rap album for Section.80 and performed at the Grammys and was doing gq interviews and was on all major platforms the whole nine all BEFORE we even knew what a good kid maad city was. Wouldve felt a bit weird and industry plant-ish. He didnt recieve this same push until after gkmc was released and hailed as classic.

From what I researched, Industry Plants are basically hit or miss just like any other artists now

Back then it was easier to hide and industry plant (unless they were an obvious artist clone) because the public didn’t know about the concept at the time. But now it’s public knowledge to the point that it’s hard for an artist to breakout without getting that label

An Industry Plant would be carefully developed artistically and personality wise until they get shown to the public but the caviat is that they appear “indie” then suddenly sign to a label which is where the backlash comes in. Now even though they might get marketing dollars behind them, it doesn’t guarantee their success unless they somehow make it work because people still have to organically support you at the end of the day

Dont know if the botted tweets with barely any engagement are a good look. This just results in unrealistic expectation in terms of what the music is supposed to for numbers.

They wanna turn these artists into superstars without even having the commercial success music wise to back it up. It always gonna look weird.

Anecdotal but the people I’ve seen give Doechii the most love are the people that were in love with Lizzo a few years back

she’s been active on YouTube and SoundCloud since 2016 until she signed with TDE around COVID 4 years into grinding then was on BET stage 2022, had her breakthrough hit 2023 and on Grammy stage 2025

idk how 9 years of extensive content you can find with 5 years being signed is premature but hey

just cause she's been active for nine years and signed for five doesn't mean she' deserving of best rap album grammy. Her body of work and alligator bites doesn't equate to the accolades and attention she's recieving. I'm saying she's not there yet quality-wise but thats just my opinion. She's everywhere and in more places and spaces than her actual music is.

This is literally the artist development people were craving for from modern artist that was a huge topic from when Ice Spice was hot.

The younger generation of rap fans have witnessed very few artists from their era break into the type of space that Doechii has. It’s wild watching them assume it just must be inorganic because it’s such a foreign thing for them to see
