Been waiting for this consolidation wave for a minute. Keeping an eye on financials.
You think layoffs or just freezes
You think layoffs or just freezes
Layoffs. Many have already done freezes.
I just got a job offer 🤚🏼
Not every company will be under the same circumstances.

Lmao I know I’m just saying
My current employer literally froze hiring and we had a worker leave and we didn’t even fill that position
Pretty much FAANG and a handful of SaaS companies
Overhired because of market surges during the pandemic and now have to correct
Goldman Sachs too
i’m currently in school for networking but with AI popping off, do you guys fear what the future holds for CS and the other sectors of IT? even for engineering jobs, years ago these jobs were seen as the most secure but now it’s hard to say what the future holds
we are very early in the development of AI and it’s capabilities are so impressive
People who aren’t actually interested and are only studying cs cause they hear you can make a lot of money are not going to make it
get your cs degree and work in the defense/aerospace/ intelligence sector, there will never be a shortage there.
Defense is f***ing trash don’t do that s***
I have my security+, i have a job that I enjoy but curious what sort of roles should I look for with a security+ if I wanted to switch?
Something like a SOC a***yst or security a***yst. Working in a SOC sounds awful to me, so when I was looking for jobs, I was solely looking for security a***yst positions.
If you plan on switching, it'll help big time if you're already in IT because security positions really aren't very entry level imo. Think the only reason I got my job was because I was already familiar with one of the systems they use and had an interest in security.

You’re an opp
Goldman Sachs too
Yeah I mean they had over 49k personnel which is just ridiculous

I work as a database programmer so I think that should help. Thanks for the advice btw

there are so many buy now pay later and POS systems
sorry fam. hope you find a new opportunity out there. companies are still hiring, just not FAANGMULAs as much
Is that really the acronym now
Is that really the acronym now
I mean, FAANG/MANGA is the real acronym, but the MULA part came from established startups and Microsoft. It's not necessary at all, just more encompassing
just had a company town hall where they shared they’re doing mass layoffs. the meeting was scheduled for 9am today and they sent the invite at 10pm last night
i find out within the next hour if my role was affected
