NY already dump tons of money into police. They have cameras on the same blocks these crimes be happening. A different approach should be taken when catching people that commit crimes and preventing criminal activity in those neighborhoods those aren’t necessarily one in the same. I don’t think this topic is really for this thread anyway. This seems like something that person would’ve done regardless they just needed an opening.

yeah the policing question is about reducing crime. this is more about mental illness, the shelter system, the lack of a serious social safety net for the mentally ill... no amount of, or type of, policing will fix that.

there was cops on the subway station where/when the asian woman was pushed on the train. With reports the man that did it was already so erratic that passerbys were walking away from him prior to him doing that..

    SO MUCH FOR THAT RIGHT?

    F*** you yo.

no one said having police presence at every train station would 100% stop any crime, but it would certainly help

This will be the straw that breaks the "camel's" back. Subways are about to be unbearable for a while.

S***'s been getting wild here for a while. Between the hate crimes against Asians (niggas was getting pushed on the tracks) and the increase of homeless on homeless violence on the subway, well known nightclubs to lgbtq people of color getting lit on fire (i'm sure by a mentally ill person judging by the surveillance footage), and now this.

Eric Adams has been an absolute f***ing failure for the city bruh.

This "THROW MORE POLICE AT IT" bullshit he's been doing (as a former cop I get that's all he knows which makes me wonder what dumb niggas was seeing in voting for him. Identity politics is not the wave.) is not, will not, nor ever will be a solution to a problem that has clearly been growing since the "pandemic ended" and the city decided to just open back up everything while taking away benefits AND making rent prices jump everywhere....while people are still in recovery.

Nah, let's just send police force to every 'tent community' in the city and just beat the homeless and destroy their s*** while giving them no shelter or nowhere to go and cultivate a hostile environment for both the people and the mentally ill that literally just need shelter in the S*** TONS OF BOARDED UP APARTMENTS THAT AINT GOT NOBODY LIVING THERE.

I swear I wanna fight niggas yo. Hope every New Yorker stays safe man. It's obvious this city/country in general opened back up with no long term solution for a mentally-damaging epidemic that effected everybody negatively.

But with that being said, the fact people want less policing in NYC is absolutely insane to me. Yeah, the system is broken as f***. But clearly s*** ain’t the answer. Should have police presence in every station because there’s too many incidents taking place rn

the only thing police presence actually effectively accomplishes is keeping u from hopping the turnstile lol

It's not that ppl want less police because "the system is broken", they want less police bc we have really good evidence that police generally make bad situations worse. People usually assume more police = less crime and more order, but the evidence clearly shows the exact opposite is true. Rather than create order, increased police presence tends to further destabilize communities.

Also, in terms of combating terrorism like what airport security is supposed to do, we have evidence indicating that it also does absolutely nothing to reduce terrorism.

The only thing more police presence accomplishes is it makes people feel safer, even if they aren't actually any safer. That's fine, but it comes at a decent cost usually

basically, you're asking for more of something we know doesn't work. This is something that will inconvenience almost everyone and cost a good deal of money, and all it really accomplishes is making some folks feel a sense of false security.

    hope that helps

I would beat the s*** out of you dawg lol

Also the whole point is IF (emphasis on the word IF I know it’s a big word for you) the police budget is going to be what it is, then maybe like you said, instead of harassing the homeless population, we have stronger enforcement on behavior in PUBLIC transportation stations. What a radical take. F*** you too, smoothbrain

    SUCK MY D*** NIGGA.
