    Production Value

There’s a lot of debate going on about who out rapped who and what’s true and what’s not but what’s clear as day imo is Kendrick completely outclassed Drake in production value and quality which was really disappointing to see

From the beginning with Like that K Dot came out swinging with an iconic metro Boomin beat and a fiery delivery. He kept the same energy with Euphoria, another amazing beat and more interesting and engaging cadences that really grab the listener. Then with 616 he really gave us a gem with a classic Al Green sample flipped by sounwave and again his flow and delivery were amazing, kind of reminiscent of pre GKMC Kendrick. Then we have Meet The Grahams which has an amazing alchemist beat and the way he’s able to get into character and really sell the narrative is truly special. Finally we have Not like Us which sounds like a bonafide hit and features some of Kendrick’s most entertaining rapping to date

On Drake’s side we have Push Ups which features some solid rapping from Drake lyrically but the delivery is pretty flat and monotonous as is the production. The low end is really distorted and muddy too and the whole thing just sounds crunchy. It works but it’s no where near his standard. Then we have Taylor Made which was creative and also featured some great rapping from the boy with a nostalgic west coast beat but the AI artifacts just bring it down and make it hard to listen to. Burried Alive was cool but nothing about it was all that impressive. Family Matters was the one track Drake dropped that really measures up to his standard and it sounds great, production is phenomenal, performances are phenomenal as well. Then with The Heart Part 6 lyrically it’s really good but again we have a flat delivery, flat production, and a muddy mix.

Overall I think Kendrick really had better quality music and more dynamic performances that make his songs a lot more listenable and like-able than Drake’s. It sounds like everything from Drake other than Family Matters was just thrown together without any quality control.

To be fair, Takeover had a better beat than Ether.

    Push Ups production is amazing

One of the most mid beats I’ve heard drake rap on imo and the mix makes it even worse

Sounds big and epic and to me. Villainous, with a lot of momentum. The Heart Part 6 is the only beat I think is truly bad.

despite drake having a range of flows and cadences, kendrick excels in that aspect more. i wanted to see the heart part 6 be like a kendrick like song with the airy, trademark heart samples rapping in kendrick’s perspective and his flow/voice w/ his self guilt and projection on drake rather than what actually happened. oh well

To each his own it’s not a terrible beat but that low end is nothing but rumble and distortion, the snare sounds like a stock FL snare too, s*** is just basic compared to something like Like That or Euphoria

Push ups needed to keep that initial beat with the take money sample . cant believe drake switched it to that boring one man

and honestly Drake lost imo because he does that same tired mob boss monotone "im too good to even be rapping right now" flow on every single song

like if you're dissing someone put some energy and passion behind that s***, you can hear the disdain and energy that Kendrick has in every single song

I thought I was the only one bro I totally agree, must’ve been a sample clearance issue. That rough mix was horrid though

Drake has no range in his voice it’s all one note. He came in too cocky and not focused
