Sekiro won because it is GOTY simple as dat!
Could be true but I honestly thought there was more talk about RE2
Maybe I’m just out of the loop
I don’t think the care about, I just think the panel of voters probably had mixed feelings on it like the public did.
Still surprised Sekiro beat RE2 if you assume RE2 doesn’t take a hit because it’s a remake.
But both games are still in my backlog so I’m just talking out of my butt.
Nah Geoff has Kojima bias he’s even in Death Stranding so people were up in arms when it got all those nominations with the mixed reception.

I know people were up in arms but Geoff had nothing to do with the actual voting. I think it lost because the panel voters probably had mixed reactions about the game.
I definitely didn’t lose “just to avoid controversy”

Death Stranding is too weird to be a GOTY winner. It’s top 3 of the year for me but I still would never recommend that game to anyone unless they specifically want to play something weird and unique.
That said I would’ve given GOTY to RE2 rather than sekiro. But thats mostly because I’m used to FROMs greatness as I’ve beaten and played the hell out of everything they’ve put out since Demons Souls.
DMCV the true GOTY tho what a goat game
crying that they got the pose for ninja right too
I get the criticisms for the show tbh. It did feel a bit dry this year but I felt like it was going to be like that anyways beforehand. We're really at the end of this gen while companies are prepping for next gen. Even though we did get some tastes of next gen stuff we're still a year away so companies aren't going to be showing much.
I'm sure 2020 game awards will be a lot better.
