Well I’ve tried BOTW and after about 8-9 hours, got pretty bored of it and stopped.

I haven’t tried the other ones but Hades and Celeste I’ve seen gameplay of and they don’t really appeal to me. They just seem like glorified mobile games honestly

    Yikes

Even more laughable than that is the notion that Hollywood thinks games should be like TLOU2

Hollywood storytelling is better reflected in super safe forgettable storytelling that can be seen in Ghosts of Tsushima or Ass Creed or RDR 2. Its extremely rare you see a story that takes the kind of risks and goes as far as they do as what was seen in TLOU2.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, but you do realize the game was not made without a lot of sacrifice, a lot of crunch and a lot of people stiffed out of their money. This isn't the only game that's like this, it sets a precedent for AAA games going forward but you're too busy living in your echo chamber to realize that

Every major AAA game has insane crunch, a lot of salaried jobs with deadlines get stressful with people working crazy hours.
Rockstar has notoriously had some of the worst crunch of any devs since way back and people don't care.

What “risks” were taken in TLOU2?

I keep seeing y’all say the same s*** “it’s so dense”, “no other game has taken the risks this has”

And you stop there, no explanations or expanding on that. So please explain.

I would say killing off the main character associated with the franchise like 2 hours into the game is a pretty gigantic risk that you rarely see other sequels in any other art form do for one

I can also confidently say I have almost never seen any story literally cut the POV of a character halfway into the story to spend most of the last half shifting to the POV of a villain

I mean if you don’t understand how these are big risks without someone having to explain it to you, that’s your problem. There’s a reason not one person can even name one thing they liked about the story of a game like BOTW or Tsushima and that’s because outside of gameplay, they have no narrative Thats worth caring about. Meanwhile TLOU2s is still constantly discussed and debated. Theres people who claim they haven’t played the game yet apparently memorized every single beat of the story.

Hell nah. This not the two risks that you was toting around is it?

I take it you never watched GOT. Or read Hunter x Hunter. Or any other piece of art? These risks on the aspect of the game you guys say is so great aren’t that big of risks if at all.

As a game TLOU2 is just good. As a story it’s honestly lacking to a lot of other crazy good stories on all mediums.

GOT kills characters at the start but it eventually coalesces around 3 main characters and protects them with all the plot armor they need

TLOU2 as a story is definitely never as up and down as GOT in its storytelling logic

It also is funny to say TLOU2 story is bad because HxH or GOT (some of the greatest work of their respective artforms) have similarities but don’t even go as far as TLOU2 does with those ideas

The mc in HxH is completely irrelevant for the current arc and the foreseeable future.

They both did the big risks of this game long ago and way better imo. There's so many mediums out there that excel in different area a lot better than TLOU2 and the story is supposed to be the exceptional part about it.
