@Fah1m im glad you find validation from unverified 1k follower Twitter users who write up over reactionary Twitter threads to their gamer friends

I personally find validation in what I like on my own opinions and I personally believe tlou2 is a masterpiece and goty and it is well deserved

Even more laughable than that is the notion that Hollywood thinks games should be like TLOU2

Hollywood storytelling is better reflected in super safe forgettable storytelling that can be seen in Ghosts of Tsushima or Ass Creed or RDR 2. Its extremely rare you see a story that takes the kind of risks and goes as far as they do as what was seen in TLOU2.

Also if the standards for making good games without crunch is Hades, then I would probably never play a video game again.

I'm sure its a fun little 2d game, but games that are as ambitious and groundbreaking as Cyberpunk 2077 or TLOU2 cannot be made without crunch.

    I mean they can.

But they would take longer to make

Studios should realize that and properly manage their team and set expectations to their stockholders that the games will take longer to make.

Crunch f***ing sucks and it should have no place in gaming

What? A game doesnt have photorealistic graphics, a multi-million dollar budget and actors on it? Must be f***ing garbage!

Plenty lmao. Tlou 2 not even that amazing in story. Halo 2 did the play the enemy bit a decade before

It's a good game, but it's not the Mangum opus people are trying to make it out to be to get neckbeards mad

    MGS3 did it as well

I liked TLOU2 but the "play as Abby" parts were the absolute worse (not counting the sky bridge parts, that was pretty cool). I didn't care about her crew at all and when Ellie offed them all I felt nothing lol. Also f*** her dad and the rest of the Fireflies. They were all a******s and got what they deserved.

I mean I enjoy Among Us and Raft and Donā€™t Starve Together but the games Iā€™m really looking to play at the end of the day are the ones that really push the standards of scale and immersion in gaming
Itā€™s impossible to do that without crunch

Its very possible, zelda botw, one of the most immersive games oat and arguably the most immersive open world was developed without crunch, in fact they delayed it twice. Also, there's plenty of indies that do it. Undertale is the biggest example, one of the most immersive games oat imo for its main mechanic which is being able to talk your way out of battle which can change drastically the story.
We all should be grateful to games like celeste, cave story, undertale, raji, hades, spelunky, binding of isaac, super hot for showing the industry you dont need crunching or high budgets to deliver amazing games. Imo you should try the games ive listed before saying s*** like this cause it comes off as disrespectful to indie developers who do a hell of a job

Well Iā€™ve tried BOTW and after about 8-9 hours, got pretty bored of it and stopped.

I havenā€™t tried the other ones but Hades and Celeste Iā€™ve seen gameplay of and they donā€™t really appeal to me. They just seem like glorified mobile games honestly
