Havenāt played Ghosts yet, waiting to cop on PS5 to play it. Iāve only heard great things about it so it makes sense why thatās here too.
Itās really between The Last of Us Part II and VII Remake, and if I gotta pick itās FF7R.

Why wouldnt it? Its as much of a game as the others, just because it doesnt have action/story, doesnt mean its not a great game. Everyone loved it, it was the game of the pandemic and imo defined 2020 more than any other game released this year. Is it GOTY? Im not sure, all of the candidates are GOTY contenders, but AC deserves its nominee as much as the others

Itās a good game, but thereās plenty of games that dropped this year that are more fitting of the title. Half Life Alyx, Ori, Dreams, Streets of Rage 4, Persona 5 Royal and more. I think those games alone push more in their respective genres than Animal Crossing does in its own.

Persona 5 royal is a rerelease, so its fair not to put it imo, it adds something to the og game but not enough to distinguish it from the og. About your main argument, the same could be said about the other games, none of the nominees really add something new to their genre yet they're all goty candidates. Hell one of the nominees is a remake and afaik remakes dont add anything new, at best the original game did, like in final fantasy's case
