The 30s-40s had jazz
The 50s had rock n roll
The 60s had classic and psychedelic rock
The 70s had funk and soul
The 90s had golden age hip hop
2000s had r&b/pop
2010s got experimental hip hop and vaporwave
The 80s had cheesy synth pop and overall aged worse than every other decade
80s had Mike and Prince
Should've mentioned those in OP cause that's the only defense that decade has
Not even just prince either, you had all of the Minneapolis sound. 80s had some trash (as does every decade) but the 80s was legendary and cannot be summarized by cheesy synth pop

80s was a great decade for r&b and had a lot of ground breaking hip hop. I can see if you only listen to rap or pop music thinking it’s lacking though.
Also all those albums went at least gold/platinum at the minimum I believe. So it’s not like I listed a bunch of irrelevant dusty dudes who had no impact
Op really put the 30-40s in there but says prince and MJ alone pale in comparison to that s*** lmfao
