Let them f***ing have a sleep for dinner nap like goddamn
I grew up with that and feel like it taught me very good appetite control habits
I agree
This isn't the government
government or authority for me it's kinda the same
we def need to take care of the obesity problem tho, its such a thorn in the US side in the push to universal health care
i mean i dont know why youre surprised
if the ultra wealthy can get more wealthy by doing something then that thing is a thing that is going to happen
government or authority for me it's kinda the same
Its a professional association of pediatricians
It is it not a governing body or authority necessarily

The people on the board of these type of professional orgs are commonly bought and paid for by pharmaceutical and other related corporate entities
Explain
they will never promote healthy lifestyle, instead, they will try to fix anything with a few pills
the fact that americans don't have free healthcare it's also their own choice, because they will never demand it, so they deserve the worst

Yep, so corporations again are the issue
thank god im not fat 🙏
Thousands of damn years people have been able to monitor their own eating habits
Now this country wants to tell society no parents can’t portion control and monitor the eating behavior of their own kids, buy more pills instead!!
Not their fault society turned into fstasses
Yep, so corporations again are the issue
They work at an insane rate of training consumers to be addicted, they’ve only been in the gulf Arab countries since the 80s:
eat more food, take more medicine, spend even more money
makes complete sense tbh
Itt: people with zero medical background thinking they know more than the people making the guidelines
Also why don’t these news websites link the actual guidelines that they’re making a story about
Like the article itself says that intensive behavioral and lifestyle modifications is still first-line

sensational clickbait ofc
more clicks more money
its all money all the way down

You’re an actual medical doctor, you don’t think this in practice will be predatory? Especially in consideration to how abused mental health and pain medication is?
You know how f***ed the medical system is in this country — you think it’s a coincidence they put this guideline out when none of the proposed d**** in the article are covered by insurance and cost 1500+ dollars a month?
I’m not talking about people with very specific medical conditions that make them prone to obesity, and when it’s not a case of behavioral eating habit issues

Let us know what you make of it @str8dollaz
You don’t have to be a medical professional to understand that this coming from perverse incentives
You’re literally talking about a child here whose behavior can most closely to he monitored and controlled from an early age. Everyone agrees behaviorist approach should be the first solution pursued because it’s the most common factor in cases and arguably the largest contributor.
It’s CLEAR that consumer behavior in the US is one of main drivers of obesity, the introduction of guidelines like that targeted at the mass population of children presents a very dangerous sideline effect of giving bad actor medical professionals, ill informed parents, etc a route to fast track their young children onto medication solutions.
You honestly would sit here and say that a significant amount of families/doc under this newly proposed in disseminated guideline wouldn’t misappropriate it? If you have an individual or child rather from the family that has historical hi obesity, it’s also likely the case that across-the-board the parents exhibit poor behavior patterns when it comes to consumption and moderation of health.
Ultimately, it is the family decision, whether or not, they’re going to pursue medication for the kid, and many of these families are prone to making misinformed decisions and not even properly executing on the first proposed and main solution which is addressing the child’s behavioral consumption and health patterns.
