It was definitely a slow burner but they did create good tension. If I didn't read Dune already I think I'd have some complaints about how ambiguous everything is, also the speech was very quiet at some points.
Insanely pretty movie though

I figure id ask itt cus i have an interest in linguistics
Ive noticed young, often poc, aussies usually sound super american, even british sometimes
Is there a reason for this
You don’t really see this in other English speaking countries like south africa, NZ, UK, netherlands etc
Only other instance i can think of a situation where people with other wise non english American background sound american is with bilingual french canadians in quebec who speak english as a second language. But that situation makes even more sense than the american sounding Australians because atleast theyre literally surrounded by the north American English accent so it’s normal they pick it up
Obviously American, specifically black american, accents influences the youth globally but you don’t see people sounding full on American

Where have you been noticing this? Slang is adapted yes but not really the accent, at least among my majority POC community.
British accent I've noticed a few times but it's nothing dramatic, maybe in certain phrases or words they have it. It's also a tricky one because there's some older Australians with a very British accent where they speak 'higher' in their head if that makes sense
I see hella videos on tiktok with Australians that don’t really sound Australian lol

That could just be Tik Tok accent, cause irl I don’t hear this

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised but I don't think it's that big of a thing, the accent adaption

Ur right, a lot of poc Aussies definitely adopt linguistic mannerisms from the US, but now that the UK is topical there's also an adoption of an accent with that inflection.
My dumb theory - I think because Australia doesn't really have a cool African diaspora cultural scene that has reached global relevance like the US and the UK, although it definitely is coming up. Either way, because there's a lack of cultural capital in the Australian accent, poc kids adopt some bits of the US accent, but I see a lot more adopting the UK accent and UK slang these days. I know u don't fw this racist country so good to see u in here
