I’m from Melbourne so not 100% sure about syndney’s demographic. In Melbourne there are certainly some areas that different cultures gravitate to but generally there’s a good mix. I think its more contingent on age/socio-economic position more than anything else if you aren’t a first generation migrant.

For the last question you'll be fine. We have a descently sized middle eastern Muslim population mainly focused around Lakemba/Bankstown/Fairfield/Auburn which is where I'm near

I would say people are nice but lean towards the attitude of don't bother me and I won't bother you. Supposedly we are not the friendliest compared to other cities but I haven't been to enough places
