I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie this bleak that still manages to be really funny and looks so f***ing beautiful. I didn’t love it as much as most people did, but I was definitely entertained and engaged throughout. 7.5/10
You like it more than 3 billboards?
You like it more than 3 billboards?
i did - it felt like McDonagh had a stronger command of tone in this than he did in 3 billboards
Three billboards doesn’t get credit for being pandering as s*** good first watch doe

One of the worst movies ever made
Wasn’t the biggest fan of three billboards, but I find the premise of this movie much more interesting. Will be watching next week
Lmao how?
The movie feels like McDonagh saying “If I was there when George Floyd was getting arrested, I would’ve saved his life”

Wait what?
Three billboards came out a few years before George passed…
Such a simple concept “a man decides to suddenly not be friends with another man anymore, the other man tries to figure out why”

Still got Decision to Leave, Aftersun, Bones & All, Fablemans, The Menu, Glass Onion, The Whale, Women Talking, and Babylon to go. This year for film has been amazing
Yea I dunno bout this one man. Well shot and acted but just felt depressing for the sake of being depressing. Feel like I missed the point here.

It’s a parallel for the splitting of Ireland, which is depressing for Irish people and a lot of people in general. The absurd violence and self mutilation felt like a fitting way to make sense of the civil war, which has continued to impact the country. It’s why the movie ends the way it does if you note the dates on the calendar
Of course, even without those parallels it wouldn’t have been too depressing for me. But to each their own
It’s neither here nor there but this is by far the best movie I’ve seen about modern Irish history. Maybe I gotta queue up Hunger soon
