    You can either be nice.
    Or you can have conflict.

    It’s my whole life dilemma.

i don’t think that’s what the movie was getting at

  • Nov 4, 2022

Pretty sure I need to go see this again. Haven’t stopped thinking about it

What do u think it was getting at?

    Here’s my completed review:

Maybe you want to focus on your art. Because that’s what’ll live on when you’re dead.
But, eventually, you’re gonna need to sit down with a dull fecking man, and have a dull fecking conversation.
It’s inevitable. Rebelling against that is like rebelling against life itself. It’s what we do this for. To help with the despair, and whatnot.

Life is dull. So let’s toast to the simple things. 🍻

i don't think there was one particular thing being addressed, but juxtaposing niceness vs. conflict was far from it. Colm approached the situation of breaking his friend off pretty brutally; conflict wasn't entirely necessary had he spoke his piece on day 1.
the way i perceived these characters off-screen; i think padraic would've eventually worn his efforts thin and found companionship in someone like Dominic.

i like your second half of the review though 🥂

Nah that looks a bit too "big" for me, but I'll certainly keep an eye on opinions here and might end up checking it out.

I'm interested for Brendan's sake but Aronofsky gonna need one heck of a redemption arc to get me back onboard after Mother imo

    Damn wasn’t a fan? I personally f***ed wit it

But based off the premise this seems like it’ll be more along the lines of The Wrestler

Yeah I didn't mind mother's setup, but once we get kind of caught up in that infinite loop of characters that you're meant to hate it became a drag for me overall. I can always appreciate someone getting to execute fully on an auteur vision though, so kudos to him for that though.

    Great film

  • Nov 7, 2022

This was miles better than Three Billboards. it is both absolutely funny and sad. I think it might be one of my favorite dark comedies ever, the performances are great, the whole look of the film is fantastic to look at and it moved me in the way it took the characters. Highly recommend it

    great movie

  • Nov 9, 2022

i loved this one. it really felt like a fable of sorts.

colin is just SO good in this exact type of role, but the sister siobhan might've been my favorite performance.

  • A lot more depressing than I expected. Which I’m fine with, made me like it even more but damn was it heavy on me walking out of the theater
