I really don’t understand using your phone in a theater. That should occupy all your attention and is it really that hard to ignore it for 2 hours?
Not calling anyone out, I’ve just seen it so much lately and it blows my mind
I feel the same with concerts
this movie is kinda funny right?
i’m like laughing every now and then but rest of ppl in theater not so now i’m trippin lol
It’s dark Irish humour
I mean you brought up the topic and it just reminded me of all the phones I’ve seen in theaters recently and how people will just browse for 10 minutes in the middle of a movie
Saw someone on Amazon last time I was at a theater
And they never turn their brightness down
Three billboards doesn’t get credit for being pandering as s*** good first watch doe
Why should it get credit for doing something bad?
The movie feels like McDonagh saying “If I was there when George Floyd was getting arrested, I would’ve saved his life”
Projection. I think the point of the film went by you.
Wait what?
Three billboards came out a few years before George passed…
It’s more about a mother grieving than police brutality
Yea I dunno bout this one man. Well shot and acted but just felt depressing for the sake of being depressing. Feel like I missed the point here.
A lot of it is dark humor intended to be taken as a joke somewhat.
The way Martin McDonagh balances comedy and drama is amazing.
Super funny film but also really depressing too
So many amazing one line quotes from this that got huge laughs from the audience
The landscape of the island was so beautiful too
Overall the film didn’t blow me away on an emotional level, but I still loved it.
Even though it’s obvious that Brendan Fraser is a lock for best actor I can see a huge push for Colin Farrell coming down the line
I wish I could see a play of his

Exactly. I noticed dude has alotta weird takes on this site

The way it uses race and police brutality is clearly as a story mechanism. It’s not like a Spike Lee movie.
I feel like I’m one of the only ppl on here that really liked/loved Three billboards and Birdman
Did you find any of it funny?
yeah some of it
but a lot of it was hard to make out with the accent could be very thick at points

Same
s*** reminded me of The Lighthouse

I don’t really care what the purpose of the film was. That goes out the window when you create a redemption arc for a piece of s*** cop in a movie trying to make a point about police brutality on minorities centered around a white moms grieving

the movie did a lot of ridiculous things but having the main character pretend to care about social issues to work out her grief was not one of them

why not just say that instead of trying to use George Floyd as an example? Something that happened 3 years after this movie was made

Just because it happened after doesn’t mean it doesnt still feel like the director trying to make a movie that feels like an out of touch rebuttal to that

How can it feel like Martin is trying to make a rebuttal about a man he didn’t even know when he made the film?
You’re better off just saying it feels like Martin is trying to make a rebuttal about police brutality. I hope you realize George Floyd isn’t the only example of that

It’s not, but he’s the biggest case I can think of and that’s why I referenced it
