They moved The Batman Part 2 down 4 months to make space for a f***ing post-Rise of Skywalker JJ Abrams movie starring Jenna Ortega and Glenn Powell
We can’t be f***ing serious. Everybody laugh
Good lord this movies becoming the Chinese democracy/detox of movies what a joke
772 million. But also keep in mind that was when WB was releasing films on HBO Max shortly after they were released in theaters, and also a lot of people were still afraid to go to the theater
Not to mention there were a lot of people who were still doubting Pattinson as Batman at that time.
Part 2 should be able to hit $900+ imo.
The ReevesVerse has grown a lot in popularity these last few years
Idk about $900 mill man (unless it’s a stone cold classic, then all bets are off) penguin was heat and Batman will always be popular but at some point these delays are gonna impact the awareness/enthusiasm around this universe lol it ll have been SIX years
At this point they have time to make another spin off series as a hold over
Not trying to doom or be dramatic but atp with this delay on top of the others, if this is some regular “grounded” wannabe high drama, it’s gonna flop
This movie is damn near officially cornered into having to be a blockbuster spectacle emotional rollercoaster now

Yep each delay just making the expectations higher lol

And this won’t even be the last delay.
Very unlikely and pretty crazy but what if Reeves pulls an Iceman/Habibti/Maid of Honour with pt 2 and 3

This confused the f*** out of me for a second when I associated “iceman” with mr freeze

Part II Feb
Part III October
That'd set the world on fire

Is he incorporating DCU stuff or something?
But why is Abrams movie getting a whole year delay?
It’s apparently testing very well and WB wants to give it a massive window with IMAX, 35mm, etc.

Oh ok the formats make sense. I was thinking wouldn’t the original November date still put it in award territory if that’s what they’re going for?

Yeah idk, it’s kind of strange. Everything known about Abrams’ movie (admittedly not much) and obviously Abrams in general seems to scream summer blockbuster.
But then you look at the Summer slate and from end of May through July you have: Star Wars: Starfighter, Rambo, How To Train Your Dragon 2, Spiderverse, Oceans, Shrek 5, Man of Tomorrow, Minecraft 2, and A Quiet Place.

Hollywood's been overcrowding summer for years now to the point some films have to be sacrificed flops because audiences won't go to all.
Can't shuffle to a packed window this late in the game. No shot that list doesn't have several strugglers

I added Rambo and Oceans for legacy sake, but I don’t imagine they’re going to fare well.
Feb is a wild month though… graveyard
February and President's Day Weekend is fine if you actually build a marketing scheme around it. Don't think massive IP that can bounce off a winter theme will struggle here. Early October isn't a bigger time by any means unless you're an awards season/indie release post-TIFF/Venice.
Something like Batman is unaffected in either
