This movie basically involves Bruce taking two years to find out what the point of being Batman is in the first place. His blindness to the systemic source of crime (due to his privilege) and instead violently lashing out at street criminals was brought out throughout the movie and him subsequently realizing that the Riddler had strung him along in his own twisted vigilantism made him understand that the powerful had to change to bring hope to Gotham, and him going around beating people up wouldn’t change anything. So he realizes there’s purpose to being Bruce again because he’s a public catalyst that’s just as powerful as his force as a vigilante
Batman saying “I’m vengeance” in the beginning and then riddler’s minion saying the same thing at the end is the most glaring point of this
How this plays into your post is that Batman is now aware of what his significance is lacking in terms of the direction it could bring Gotham in. He’s a very driven and intelligent character who will have to learn to be Bruce Wayne, but he can do it
facts
would have loved if they showed more random vigilante work from Battinson but it would feel off from a pacing point of view
this batman clearly spends every night f***ing up random criminals, next movie probably gonna be him relaxing on that and spending more time as Bruce Wayne
I think it’s super easy and set up right there for the next script!!
His parents 2 billion dollar renewal fund that he found out got corrupted by the mob
I think it’d make sense for that to be a wake up call for him to stop ignoring the business side (like how we saw him not opening mail, not attending meetings etc) and be more hands on, start taking charge etc
And since he’ll need to balance two lives wayyy better than he did in this movie (he basically only lived the Batman life for like 2 years) he’ll have to invent that new personality
Not sure if we can expect him to go full playboy philanthropist socialite in the next one but hopefully he’s on the way
If we get a great Gatsby Esque scene in the next one of bruce
just got back from seeing this
I wanted to like it, but it was very underwhelming and disappointing. I'm not a comic book guy but I usually go for Batman movies. this seemed like a caricature of one that both had no ambition yet still failed to tell a straight forward story
the characters lacked real depth, none of the actors had any chemistry, the script was dull, Batman thought about some riddles a bit but never even had a showdown with the villain, the references to 2022 were shoehorned and the final uplifting scene of Batman literally uplifting the survivors was on some Daenerys freeing the slaves s***
it was like Hollywood saw the reaction to The Joker and thought "make Batman darker, grungier...NIRVANA!" but the end result was without any real style, risk, or ambition. just a mailed in, generic and forgettable Batman movie made to make money until the next one
I can’t agree with a single point made in this post
Sorry
This one actually had so much narrative depth compared to the blockbuster style dark knight and the just utter poop BvS
Like I love dark knight but I can’t call it more ambitious in any way compared to this. That series was Nolan making action movies that had Batman. This felt entirely integrated and in your face
Got so much love for Batman don’t even argue with the haters anymore
Aaaaaaah what a life

Gordon was pure ride or die and I loved it lmao
Has anyone read the white knight comic? Joker heals himself and is considered the good guy in the story and Bruce Wayne goes fully insane it’s a good read

A modern classic, like anything Sean Murphy
Would recommend the Harley Queen mini series in this universe too

found out the funeral explosion scene was all practical stunts
they really only used visual effects in this film for world building with gotham and the bat in the cage, super impressive
