Only problem I see with Pattinson’s Bruce transitioning to the “billionaire playboy” persona is how they’d do it. The way this Bruce is portrayed is that he has spent the majority of his life away from the public eye, what is gonna change that and how are they going to approach that change?

    Being a philanthropist?

Harvey Dent or he has a James Bond vesper moment that changes him forever

I think it’s super easy and set up right there for the next script!!

His parents 2 billion dollar renewal fund that he found out got corrupted by the mob

I think it’d make sense for that to be a wake up call for him to stop ignoring the business side (like how we saw him not opening mail, not attending meetings etc) and be more hands on, start taking charge etc

And since he’ll need to balance two lives wayyy better than he did in this movie (he basically only lived the Batman life for like 2 years) he’ll have to invent that new personality

Not sure if we can expect him to go full playboy philanthropist socialite in the next one but hopefully he’s on the way

    Being a philanthropist?

Being is one thing, he can definitely do that and probably restore the Wayne Foundation, but the dramatic personality swap isn’t something that’s going to be easy to achieve or believable if it’s not done carefully.

All it would take is one dialogue exchange with Alfred where Bruce expresses his realization that he’s more effective all around if he “plays the role” of the more lighthearted Bruce Wayne

They opened the route with what Real was saying to him...Philanthropy. Gotham in its current state would be in need of his assistance. The opening is already there

He doesn't need to be the over the top guy but stepping up and starting Wayne Foundation initiatives or something can easily transition him and get him to speaking with more politicians, celebrities/notable people in the city. All Alfred was stressing to him was keeping up appearances

They'll prob play Bruce like he was in the animated show. He was a ladies man and all that for show but otherwise taken pretty seriously and was very sociable.

By the way....judging by that funeral scene when he got out the car...he is very much a celebrity there already. Him coming out his shell seems like something the city would gladly accept.

This movie basically involves Bruce taking two years to find out what the point of being Batman is in the first place. His blindness to the systemic source of crime (due to his privilege) and instead violently lashing out at street criminals was brought out throughout the movie and him subsequently realizing that the Riddler had strung him along in his own twisted vigilantism made him understand that the powerful had to change to bring hope to Gotham, and him going around beating people up wouldn’t change anything. So he realizes there’s purpose to being Bruce again because he’s a public catalyst that’s just as powerful as his force as a vigilante

Batman saying “I’m vengeance” in the beginning and then riddler’s minion saying the same thing at the end is the most glaring point of this

How this plays into your post is that Batman is now aware of what his significance is lacking in terms of the direction it could bring Gotham in. He’s a very driven and intelligent character who will have to learn to be Bruce Wayne, but he can do it

just got back from seeing this

I wanted to like it, but it was very underwhelming and disappointing. I'm not a comic book guy but I usually go for Batman movies. this seemed like a caricature of one that both had no ambition yet still failed to tell a straight forward story

the characters lacked real depth, none of the actors had any chemistry, the script was dull, Batman thought about some riddles a bit but never even had a showdown with the villain, the references to 2022 were shoehorned and the final uplifting scene of Batman literally uplifting the survivors was on some Daenerys freeing the slaves s***

it was like Hollywood saw the reaction to The Joker and thought "make Batman darker, grungier...NIRVANA!" but the end result was without any real style, risk, or ambition. just a mailed in, generic and forgettable Batman movie made to make money until the next one

    Colin Farrell killed it also

Beginning of the film. He begrudgingly goes out to a public event. In the midst of him ducking paparazzi, he notices a group of kids in the crowds looking at him adoringly.

Slow motion shot of the children's sparkling eyes and big smiles.

Cut to Bruce's eyes changing from frustrated to confused..to happy. A smile forms across his face, and he goes and gives them a high five. They all laugh and scream in joy, and he finally embraces the positive side of his status.

The first half of the film is Bruce slowly shirking away from his responsibilities at Batman in favor of embracing philanthropy and public appearances.

Once our main villain can't be ignored, he has a moment of realization that he needs to be both.

"but the end result was without any real style, risk, or ambition"

There's never been a Batman that looked like this or felt like this.
This was arguably the most ambitious Batman film of our generation

    But agree to disagree

watched this for the second time yesterday, definitely a very good movie but maybe a little too long

first half of the movie is insane and whole cast is amazing, they really nailed the comic book feel

love how well this movie is shot, Greg Fraser killed this s***

Pattinson acting behind the cowl was insane, first Batman that shows expression and feelings with the mask on.

My biggest complaint is that the pacing feels off after Falcone is shot (The Riddler/Batman scene is great tho). I still hate the last action sequence on the arena, s*** was mid. One thing that bothered me about the movie was the lack of blood but well, they have to sell tickets so I understand it.

    8/10 movie, 9/10 batman film

    really excited for what
