love you is hella crazy. brian is all from the heart. He is not trying to be profound or odd or trying to calculate a masterpiece using anything other than heart.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJcfeD9IvQA!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8r_TtJxLfCglove you is brian unfiltered, no ppl telling what to do, itâs a miracle the album happened even more at that time, itâs a personal fav of mine, but only grip is leaving off my diane, what a tremendous song but yeh all brian lyrics, even has his wife singing on it, really a solo album much like pet sounds, which is funny bc theyâre both separated by 10y, already mentioned that funny pattern itt, you can follow it up with his solo album from 88
airplane is one of my fav from love you

O speaking off, did you know brians solo band member darian sahanaja did a cover of i wanna pick you up, it was like way before he joined, like 93? but to bring a new light on it and appreciation he did it in the style of pet sounds! itâs really nice @Fantasy @Elric

he released that as a single which on the other side had another cover in the same ps style, a cover of a brian unreleased song from his shelved project sweet insanity

i love those cocaine sessions, i wrote a post about it to give context behind it one time in a diff thread ima try to relocate it and repost it, ppl think post pet sounds are the dark days, but no this is the bottom for brian.. very dark
not many ppl also know that but during eugene imprisonment days he attempted to go swim in the ocean and never stop in attempt to drown before eugene security muscles brought him back, part of me think he wanted to find dennis..
i also love the songs on it that werenât smile material, in fact gettinâ hungry might be my fav off of the album
She's Goin Bald goes hard too
is this the most rocknroll banger the boys ever did? what a killer cover song, feels so 1969, that guitar is mean
!https://youtu.be/uKw7f1GyQrQthat'd be I Get Around
She's Goin Bald goes hard too
yessir only đ jerry gonna freak out over the section where the pitch switchs
that'd be I Get Around
ppl take that song for granted, it really was a revolutionary production at the time
but man bluebird sounds like an orgy at some point lol
all i want to do comes close tbh, dennis wylin for recording him f***ing that groupie and using that aaudio
its probably already been said but if they didnt axe Dennis' exquisite (Wouldnt It Be Nice) To Live Again for c*** Mikes Student Demonstration Time and kept the long version of Till I Die then Surfs Up would lowkey have been better than Pet Sounds

yeh i said the same lmao i even added 4th of july to me thatâs a summon, glorious dennis song with magnificent carl voice over a smooth vibe
the rejection of til i die longer mix really puzzles me, since thy were going to please the cool hipster scene with the concept of this album and make it around surfâs up how would that mix not fit in?
i think the story goes that dennis took back his songs (both live again and 4th of july) when they refused to use live again as the closer in order to stick with the surfâs up concept, so he got pissy i think
but either way i agree, if you make some changes like that for sunflower too itâs up there
hot take: this shouldâve been on sunflower instead of tears in the morning
what yâall say?
i love Tears In The Morning but this couldve found a spot if they worked in it a lil more

thoughts on the Kinks? they did for rain, satire and piano's what The Beach Boys did for sun, harmonies and surf guitar
Ray like a mirror image of Brian across the pond in many ways

thats a fascinating presentation, would love to read more from u on them
havnt listen to their albums in forever, i used to have contacts super fans of them but it never clicked, should give it another shot by now tho
i remember some bbs reference in the kinks like in the song australia
just realised that the discog on page 1 has live albums but no Stars and Stripes Vol. 1, goat move
just realised that the discog on page 1 has live albums but no Stars and Stripes Vol. 1, goat move
live albums imo are essential tho some are skippables like the first one, which is mainly studio rerecorded anyway but the 1973 one is a blassic, a 70s live version of let the wind blow?
yessssiiiiirr

but yeah f*** that stars n stripes s*** why is it even listed as an album in first place anyway? i mean yeh it is but itâs not original material so if stack o tracks isnât and doesnât count then why in the world would stars n stripes do lol
i almost considered for a second to put aside summer in paradise.. lol

well first of all this is Rays Lonely Sea.. the earliest germination of his legendary ballad style (when he was 18 or so).... like you said, "foreshadowing his genius"

also yeah love that Australia reference
"like they do in the usa"

which one is the "album" which is like half soundtrack songs or something? that's gotta be one of the most Mike Love tracklists of all time for memory
edit: Still Cruisin iirc

oh ugh yeah the story behind it is so dumb he had this concept of putting together a compilation of songs that they did for movies so thatâs the studio side but then he was like well hey this movie and that movie used wouldnât it be nice and california girls so letâs put them on there too
and then new original songs ended up on it anyway so itâs a f***ing mess like anything mike love does, canât handle the simplest concept
somewhere in japan is a beautiful song tho:

heartbreaking
this song and its video oddly enough was my first introduction to them, i was a kid and it played on tv and i think i was confused as seeing old men in the dark and the band was called beach boys lol
iâm at work so iâll get to some of the posts later just passing by real quick for @Jerry_Seinfeld bro if youâre still stoned you HAVE to listen to this
