They got 80 albums??? πŸ’€ Why?

over 200 official live releases (most well over 2 hours long keep in mind) and thousands of recordings from live shows from 1965-1995

because every show offers something different because of the improvisation and wide range of material and different evolutions in style. they never played a song the same way twice, even the short little ones. let alone the monster 20minute type jams where there are dozens of versions all different

i know exactly what i always suggest to newcomers: Live/Dead from 1969, Europe 72, and Cornell 5-8-77. 3 canonical relases, all different style from 3 of their absolute peak years

but all those combined is still 6 hours so... its basically one of the most impenetrable bands ever

not to mention that all the vocals suck ass imo lol, still one of my absolute favorite bands though

oh u were talking stones (not the 80 albumers lol), prime Stones is 1968-1972 the 4 album streak from Beggars Banquet to Exile on Main St. one of the best 4 album runs

but generally even though they had great albums they were a bit more of a singles band (especially 60s) so Hot Rocks (1964-1971) compilation would also be a very good place to start. one of the rare artists from beyond the 50s that id possibly rec a hits compilation to beginners

If the vocals are s*** that means you like the instrumentals (I'm assuming)

what are their staples? Like is most of their music like the song you linked? (@2:45)
