This most un-Beach Boys of covers is a painting based on the sculpture End of the Trail, by James Earle Fraser.... It would be really easy to suppose that this image of an exhausted warrior whose people is on the brink of extinction was chosen as an a***ogy to the Beach Boys’ commercial and artistic plight.

thats thanks to jack rieley who was a young hip dj and was hired as manager to rebrand the band among the cool people, smile was picking up traction so he suggested they make an album set based off of the emblematic song, he randomly found the artwork as a postcard i believe, either him or carl or something along those lines iirc
