Thom Yorke (RADIOHEAD): Ok Computer isn't pumped full of singles, but then The Bends wasn't either, or at least that's what people said. I don't think it's uncommercial, in the sense that if we'd set out to make an uncommercial record, we could have done a much better job. I think it has an atmosphere. We had a sound in our heads that we had to get on to tape, and that's an atmosphere that's perhaps a bit shocking when you first hear it, but only as shocking as the atmosphere on The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds.
Pet Sounds is an incredibly amazing pop record, but it's also an album. It doesn't quite fit the "format," or whatever, but then the sort of things we were listening to were so removed from all that anyway. (1997)

how about nah, also what album did u recommend me to listen too forgot I listened to 20/20 instead cause of the Charles Manson s***, and I gotta say the cult influence is strong with songs like Our Prayers, otherwise I had no hard feelings for it

the album i mentioned is sunflower š»
CRINE no our prayers is a song from the smile years- the canceled followed up masterpiece to smile (1967) itās a song about god, has NO connection whatsoever with charles they just threw that in there, smile was shelved so they kept using songs here and there from that over the years for albums (see the album surfs up too which is based around the song surfs up that closes the album which is a song from smile too - an emblematic now, since smile has been released commercially in 2011, the magazine mojo has ranked surfs up has the number one song of the beach boys oat) smile is def a must listen to you but thought id save the best for last: itās their mountain everest peak, itās pet sounds but even more crazy and ambitious and on d****, holy masterpiece grail - you can try it now if you want instead of sunflower
20/20 isnāt much of an actual album in fact which is why it sounds so over the place musically (altho i like that it really captures the atmosphere of 1969 to me) itās pretty much a compilation put together of recent stand alone singles and their b-sides of the last years, i think thereās only one or two original new songs for it to be justified as a new album really - so i wouldnāt read much into the album in terms of coherence or what not due to that
the only charles manson link here is the song ānever learnt to loveā which is credited as a dennis song and he sings on it, the credit is due to him rearranging it and all that but itās basically a charles manson song, demnis and him hang out a lot together, charles would crash at dennis place rent free while dennis would f*** bunch of the groupes charles brought but when it got too weird dennis dipped, this song is all that came out of it
lot of people loved charles back then it isnāt exclusive to dennis tbh - neil young not only tried to get charles a record deal and sign him to the label he was on but also once mysteriously gifted him a motorcycle, he says itās because of lot people took from charles but never gave him much but idm that seems like an expensive gift... think neil prolly gave that to f*** some of the groupies too
Have you heard the song that began the legend of Duane (when he was a muscle shoals session guitarist) and allowed him to record the Allmans debut album off the hype? S***s all over the Beatles version and is considered the beginning of southern rock and roll because Duane snapped so hard and originally

LMAO nah I shaved it off weeks ago couldn't rock it, also ah thx, sunflower isn't on Spotify either but whateva ill check it out on YouTube. Also thats just crazy Charles Mason being a part of just an iconic band, idk you'd think serial killers would be into freaky s*** and you would be able to spot it away especially if ur f***ing groupies together, unless .... they were on it too.

man WTF they got going on spotify what bbs albums are left jesus ??? š do they got at least smile sessions? if they do go for that one f*** it (you donāt need to hear all the extra stuff just the first cd)
yeaaah well it was 1969 so charles really took over the hippies groupies sensation you gotta remember it was cool back then to be sexual wild like this, also he had some songs and some people liked it and ig the industry saw some talent in it so - he def knew how to take advantage

those harmonies are very brian like i know this is like obvious but like the way the tick tock comes in and out at that pace
like it reminds me of the prechorus on this shelter when he goes āsummertimeā etc

hawaii is in my list of daily rotation bbs song of the most underrated gems that deserves more plays, a personal fav early bbs and in general period - the hook is forever infectious
mike is... unintentionally good, he sounds sick - i donāt recall if he actually was indeed but because of that tone he sounds super dennis on this which makes me wish dennis wouldāve had a shot at it, he wouldāve made it sound even greater
one thing you gotta give to the reunion era even if you donāt love the album is they made an insane setlist for the shows - 50 songs including deep cuts
