It's not popular but it's not obscure. It's from their peak era '65-'73 which is nearly untouchable.

brian shouldâve made the boys cover it!

The stones should've done a badass cover of I Get Around in the 60s

in the story of âwhat couldâve beenâ: the unexplainable time when the bbs had a recording session for seasons in the sun and nothing came out of it? apparently brian wanted to keep going back to it and produce it his way (which can take some time) and terry got tired of it - this was in 1970 and we still havenât heard that version
but in 1977 the boys did another take of it for the attempted christmas album, this is also still not released (goes to show how much we still have yet to dig out) but we thankfully have a bootleg of it:

could the beach boys have been just as big if they never let mike love join and left him at his graveyard shifts at the gas station pumpin gas?

This sounds even more dated than what BB haters think they sound like
Jerry Lee Lewis knockoff makes what Mike did sound even more unique

Thereâs a couple other times where Iâve heard Brian sing lines that ended up being for Mike or things like that, and I thought that maybe Brian doing leads wouldâve aged better than Mike but itâs hard to say how this wouldâve come out, this vocal definitely doesnât cut it

i kinda like it, it sounds innocent
but ig mike helps to bring a more rockânâroll tone to the songs he is lead on which prolly helped to touch a bigger audience
i canât lie his takes on the early surf hits are iconic like his voice over the song surfinâ is hard to imagine anyone else match that presence
but who knows dennis had a pretty rocky voice???

I think Mike being the oldest is part of what made him a good choice for a lead, I donât think Dennis had come into his voice yet when they first started, it seems that even Brian may not have had his presence in the tenor range yet. I like Mikeâs bass singing more than his leads

Aftermath UK is my favorite

i dont like the way they cram the singles in wherever they please in the us versions
Smile and Pet Sounds are alright. They donât touch this masterpiece tho
whatâs scarier is that not only mike considered this his pet sounds (you should read the note he did about it that comes with the album) but he planned another album afterwards that he said was gonna be his masterpiece and called it âthe masterplanâ - his smile???
and just like smile it never saw the day

He shouldâve just called it Smile 2 or something to troll Brian lmao
