I had sluggish muddy Surf's Up version for years before the gods blessed us with The Smile Sessions and a retooling of the old tapes resulting a dramatically more pristine version. Brian's vocal is literally different, hits much higher highs.

One of the first Stones albums I had was Aftermath us version and it always felt off. Years till I found out why.

yeah I just go to like a singles collection if I want to check out the missing singles from the UK albums; works out pretty well overall, though not as smooth as Past Masters for Beatles unfortunately
