this is brians obsession

after it came out he made this originally for the ronnettes to sing but phil who was married with the singer was jealous and turned it down, so brian turned it into an iconic bbs song:

ronnie decades later finally covered it tho, so this is the closest we’ll get to ronettes version of it:

Elvis has some legendary harmonizing going on with his backup singers too, The Jordannaires and tbh I don't think the Beach Boys or Beatles or Kinks or anyone ever topped the pristine harmonies of the Everly Brothers

brian was mostly listening to the lovin spoonful while making smile altho it sounds nothing alike - tbf nothing sounded like what brian made at that time
