he's a certified legend at this point man what else does he have to prove in his twilight years? there's no way to exploit this man posthumously because he's released so much vault tracks in his life already
Once the industry has his vault, they're going to release any and everything they want, no matter Springsteen's wishes, once he's dead.
Its a stupid move.

Ayo this guy just dropped a gem prediction itt

What is there to release? Electric Nebraska? Born in the USA sessions? man has literally put out a s*** ton of tracks in his lifetime i'm sure whatever is left in his vault is quality enough either way. let the man make his bag he's already done what he can
why would they do this
Because they're dying and want to pass money along to their children. Which, on its face, is kind-hearted and noble.
But there's a bigger play at hand that the labels are privy too.
Not only will the label now own their publishing and masters for the foreseeable future, (most obviously after these artists die), but they get to distribute the song in movies, box sets, and reissues as they see fit.
Its basically putting the power and music ownership back in the hands of the executives. Artists like Dylan, who prided themselves on early counter-counter, anti-establishment sentiments, eventually give in once the cash offer is big enough. Its pathetic.
My suggestion: Hold your masters, hold your publishing. Pass it on to your kids and conduct the re-releases yourselves. That way, you continue to own something that your family made for generations and make money from it being uses for hundreds of years.
This is what royal families and other ancient families around the world do. That's how you hold on to power and resources These old musicians are acting like pawns.

See: My above post for my full thoughts on the matter.
Its cute what Springsteen is doing, but short-sighted and backed by greed.
Yeah, they have this 500 mil now, but that also means they won't receive money from his catalogue being re-released, used on streaming, used in movies, and TV shows ever again. Which, in the long run, may have been greater than the 500 mil now.
The issue is 3rd-4th generation Springsteen's would see this money, not Bruce. So in Bruce's mind, "get the money now", is a better idea.

Plausible point tbh. the Hendrix estate and Prince estate are great at what they're doing
