I think Drake has the potential
he already made it it’s called certified lover boy and it’s out now
I use to think MBDTF was one of the best albums of all time. I still do, but I feel like Yeezus and 808s are much better albums

This opinion totally isn’t influenced by Kanye himself saying this

Nah that would be NWTS or iyrtitl if I had to pick one
Talent wise Drake should have been the one to deliver an album that is in that conversation but sadly he hasn’t done so either because he can’t or he isn’t interested in even trying which is sad
I look at Drake as the Millennial Hov so I expected something Blueprint tier from him but unfortunately that hasn’t happened and the way CLB turned out it probably never will
TC is his best studio album and is definitely a classic but is a step behind goat album tier
I see a lot of people mentioning WLR as well. Fantastic album. Definitely a classic for sure. Maybe the best of the 2020s so far but I don’t put it in the goat conversation
Blonde definitely in that conversation but that’s not rap so that opens up a whole nother can of worms
I doubt Kendrick will reach that tier again. He did it twice which is f***ing incredible. Damn is easily a classic but not goat tier. Kendrick verse on the Keem s*** was cool but I can tell he’s not on the level he was back then.
Kanye flabby and crazy... future, thug, Gunna, stuck in the same place sonically.... baby is hella talented rap wise but musically he just makes safe trap music, same for Durk, Roddy overrated, rod wave overrated, dabady is a modern day trap version of Luda combined with 50, Trav is a musical genius but can’t rap, ny rappers all one dimensional rn (either some hardcore boom nap Griselda s*** or some drill pop smoke Favi s***) Hov old, Nas old
f*** hip-hop bruh lol, Drake failed us all lmao
Agree with all of this basically
Earl self sabotages his career too much cuz he doesn't want cringe 2012 easter basket fans to ride for him anymore or else he could seriously do som great
SRS is a classic tho
Rapping on loops is not self sabotage such a lame take
WLR

Agreed fully. Rap been in a weak state for a minute. Actual generation defining classics are far and in between. I see it only getting more rare considering the way music is being consumed nowadays. This is the playlist era
Rap won’t reach similar highs as long as it’s as big of a genre as it is right now.
Drake said "you want a classic, that's just 10 of these" and then proceeded to never give us those 10 songs
I wonder what his reason is for not delivering something of that caliber when he has the resources and ability to. Why wouldn’t you want to have THAT album? He’s at the point in his career where anything he drops will chart regardless so I just wonder why he chooses to play it safe
And I can comfortably assure you Playboi Carti does not have the ability to make an album as celebrated (both critically and otherwise) as the ones you’ve listed.

This. S*** peaked in the 90s. 2000s and 2010s had its moments tho

MBDTF is a perfect album but it's not his BEST album if that makes sense.
Data shows gen z and younger millennials dont even consume albums anymore its all about playlists. Is it even possible to have overwhelming classics in that general population? (Obviously this is excluding music nerds who are in this age group)
prob... even as a music nerd i listen to full albums a lot less than i did in 2013-16
