With the recent video breaking down 6:16 and everyone being so impressed by it even though most of the breakdown didn’t need much explaining shows how numb this generations brain has become if they needed a breakdown to understand most of this

But to people that are on a higher plane of intelligence above them like me, it’s all child’s play

6:16 the best song this entire beef but yall slept on it til you needed a youtuber spoon feed it to you lemmie tell yall they not like us fr

Now I liked the songs from the SoundCloud era but look at the generation that grew up on Cole Drake Kendrick Wale etc and look at the generation that grew up on Uzi Carti and Pump and we’ll see a clear gap in intelligence

Lupe Stan’s don’t have a hard time deciphering 6:16 cause we know real depth. These kids know Kendrick and call him the greatest rapper of all time when Lupe can easily destroy any rapper.

  • Bear in mind it is the self-proclaimed hip-hop historians who are surprised by some of the bars and didn't catch them until that youtuber explained it

Another good reason why the mid to late 2010s era of hip-hop was overrated.

And another reason why Drake lowered the bar lyrically for hip-hop

It ain’t Drakes doing. It’s definitely the SoundCloud eras disregard for bars or not listening to the legends that caused this damage. Drakes always had bars even in his worst albums.

Drake had some type of a hand lmaooo.

It was clear that a lot of his new music during this time was influenced by SoundCloud s*** in 2017

I mean he jacked X's flow from Look at Me on KMT, which was a big controversial issue.

Yeah but he never once omitted bars even in those songs. The SoundCloud generation completely abandoned them for vibes, which isn’t entirely Drakes fault. If anything I’m gonna have to blame people like Cudi who isn’t a good rapper at all. I think even his fans know this. But people like him for the vibes he had, and his wack bars didn’t matter cause he was being carried musically. Drake may have had some hits that catered to that era, but I think blaming him for it is wrong cause it’s not completely his fault.

Blaming Cudi is odd, because he's not as popular/trendsetting as Drake

Or at least, what he used to be

Also his music is deeply personal and not just "vibe" music that niggas would put on.

    But...

If you want to go there, blame Travis for being the Anti-Cudi of this situation.

The reason why I say Travis, because although he's extremely influenced by Cudi. He's the opposite of what Cudi about with his personal lyrics in his music.

His music been all about vibes, party, and raging.

Plus Rodeo and Birds were extremely hot during this time and Astroworld was the peak of this era.

Both of them I believe share blame. Cudi is just looked at the grandfather of emo rap and no doubt he’s been influential even in the new gen where Drake is barely influential. And by “vibes” I mean sad vibes too. I like both artists alot too. But I do think they had a hand in allowing sub par raps to be carried by amazing production, putting that in importance over bars and good rapping

I can give Cudi a pass, because although in his case, he's not heavy with rhymes, he compensates that with more personal lyrics, which I love and respect more than most rap artists.

Trav imo is no excuse and just says dumb s*** in his lyrics

I gotta blame Cyhi too cause he writes the s*** that don’t make sense like there’s no thought into “was off the remy had to papoose”

Matter of fact ima blame the entire G.O.O.D. Music machine and Complex
