Yeah but he never once omitted bars even in those songs. The SoundCloud generation completely abandoned them for vibes, which isn’t entirely Drakes fault. If anything I’m gonna have to blame people like Cudi who isn’t a good rapper at all. I think even his fans know this. But people like him for the vibes he had, and his wack bars didn’t matter cause he was being carried musically. Drake may have had some hits that catered to that era, but I think blaming him for it is wrong cause it’s not completely his fault.

Both of them I believe share blame. Cudi is just looked at the grandfather of emo rap and no doubt he’s been influential even in the new gen where Drake is barely influential. And by “vibes” I mean sad vibes too. I like both artists alot too. But I do think they had a hand in allowing sub par raps to be carried by amazing production, putting that in importance over bars and good rapping

I can give Cudi a pass, because although in his case, he's not heavy with rhymes, he compensates that with more personal lyrics, which I love and respect more than most rap artists.
