COMBINED GRAPHS ARE IN FIRST POST, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE GRAPHS BROKEN DOWN INDIVIDUALLY BY AGE GROUP OR TIME PERIOD, CHECK THE SECOND POST IN THIS THREAD
(Personally, this surprises me a bit, I thought there would be more in the 25-31 range who started listening 2004 or before (that's what I fall under))
Kind of defeats the old head argument
Definitely found out some interesting information with this survey. The big surprise to me is Late Registration being the Rank 3 Kanye album. While its an amazing album, I never really see it get talked about that much on here.
Also, super interesting to me that the 32+ seems to love Kanyes work the most, as most people usually typecast them to be the most critical.
If I was to do this again, there are a few things I would do differently:
Instead of following standard age grouping, I would have created smaller age groups (i.e. 18-21, 22-25, 26-29, 30+). I should have realized 18-24 dominates the site, and by utilizing smaller age groups we could have seen more of a variance between the main population of users.
I would have also chosen a wider album rating scale, i.e. 1-10 instead of 1-5. I originally thought 1-5 would have been better, as it would cause more of a push to make a decision. However, I failed to take into account how highly scored Kanyes work will naturally be.
That's it for now, be on the lookout for more surverys with broken down a***ysis in the future, I had a good time working on this!
So I thought it would be cool to get a real idea of how the Kanye Section views Kanye's career.
I know we have done album rankings in the past, but this is different. I would like to gather album rankings based on an anonymous age group, as well as when you started listening to Kanye. My findings will be published in an easy to read graph format.
Link to the survey is below, probably takes 20 seconds to fill out, and doesn't require any input on your end, aside from clicking buttons for your responses. I will leave it open for a few days. If not enough people respond, then I will just can the idea.
I started listening in Junior High, Yeezus
still my favorite album, followed by TLOP, 808s, and JIK
thank you to everyone who filled it out so far! we have a decent amount of responses, so it looks like this can actually happen!
still not at the ideal sample size yet, but we are getting there!!
I can tell you that: they f*** w pablo a lot (some think its his best) while older fans see it as his first weaker album
Then you have the old old (day 1) fans who mostly only f*** w the trilogy
Not for me but why you dont have a younger age group
Some stans are like 14-18 on this site lmao

wasn’t sure of the legality of asking people under 18 to fill out a survey
didn’t wanna risk the lock
good point though, if you are reading this and under 18, feel free to fill out under the 18-24 group!
I started listening to Kanye technically in 2005 but didn't start listening to full Kanye albums until 2011-2012 so what should I put

I’d say whenever you first became aware of him and heard your first songs

I think I messed up my response then because I am the same way
can i share ITT how i voted so people can critique my opinions or do you want pure anonymity ?

no problem at all, really it’s whatever you feel, so if you feel that’s when you first really started listening to him then it still works!
LR/Grad/808s/MBDTF - 5
CD/Yeezus/TLOP - 4
JIK - 2
ye - 1
should have been given out of 10
should have been given out of 10
i think 1-5 forces a more concise decision, there’s not too many numbers to choose from so you really have to make a choice.
i.e. a 6 or 7 on a 1-10 scale can be considered not too much of a difference, whereas 3 or 4 on a 1-5 scale can be vastly different
also i was thinking about doing 10 but it was honestly just too much for me to handle when making the survey. It was gonna be like 90 inputs as opposed to 45
