Black people were fresh off the civil rights movement and making headway on a lot of issues before the early 1980s.
Our communities turned into literal war zones over night, all progress was tossed right out the window. Do you know how deadly the crack era was?
Was everything perfect? Hell no. Far from it. But progress was being made. Like I said earlier, all the issues we already had just got worse cause of the d*** trade

Fun fact, I go to school down the street from an hbcu and there’s white people there on a minority full ride scholarship
My black ass had to join the army to get a rotc scholarship and my school payed for at a PWI tho

African americans from the start of the 20th century until the 1980's were constantly advancing economically at a faster pace than whites and were on pace to become equal in a few decades
Then the 80's came and s*** just got worse and worse lol. The funny thing is that a lot of people think there's been a lot of progression in the past few years but no it's really a low point rn
