Even beyond this site when you look at what’s popular it’s not political/conscious rap. 10+ years ago it could have existed in the mainstream. But it seems like around 2019-2020 people switched on it and called it lame or for white people.

And even if you do try to speak make conscious music or music with political themes people will take that and hyper a***yze every move you make and say you’re not doing enough

Some rappers that were the forefront of politics in rap are championing AI. That alone is proof that people can only keep up the “fighting spirit” but for so long.

As great as it would be for all mainstream artists to say f*** ICE, we have to move on from looking to them as an outlet. Some of these mfs just say “ICE out” and that’s the totality of their efforts, even with their over abundance of resources to do more. Choose your heroes wisely

I swear any music I see taking a stand like this is blocked out of algorithms or something. There's a local band near me who's always speaking out and their monthly listeners decreased from thousands to just around a couple hundred after and during their first large tour across a ton of states
