You can't do the same with mmbs disc 1 or disc 2 because the narrative is stretched across both discs. TFO narrative isnt stretched across both discs.

I already said you can evaluate the album as a whole, just dont get the length thing because its really only an issue if you listen to it in one sitting, which you dont have to do because its 2 separate albums

I think disc 2 would of benefit from having some tracks cut too not because it made the album too long but because of quality wise

I get you I guess my criticism is mainly length. I just don't think J Cole has enough in his bag to keep the listener captivated for over an hour and a half. I don't really care if it's two separate discs, it's delivered as one album and J Cole doesn't switch things up enough for me to consider them as 2 separate albums

Yeah the production almost saves it but growing up with the real story makes the sentiment too jarring and corny for me.

I feel like you can't really combine discs tho because the point of disc 1 is him falling out of love and distancing himself from 3 aspects of his life while disc 2 is him embracing and the rekindling of that love. And his perspective in the lyrics correlate with that. Feel like the album would be more of a mess if he combined it into one.

Hearing songs like Run a train then hearing the whole world is ville, would of been tonal whiplash because the perspective on both are too far from each other
