It’s his best work in a long time, I just didn’t need it to be feature length. It’s a solid 7-7.5 with a little editing and that’s high praise coming from someone who generally doesn’t like Cole that much.
Is Mr Morale a double album because it's split into 2 discs and has 2 phases of the narrative?
It's delivered as one album, The Fall Off. I can't feel that the album drags so some tracks could've been cut from disc 1, some tracks could've been cut from disc 2 and that single disc would've been a stronger album? That's not a valid criticism?
You can listen to TFO disc 29 and disc 39 by themselve as standalone listen.
You can't do the same with mmbs disc 1 or disc 2 because the narrative is stretched across both discs. TFO narrative isnt stretched across both discs.
I already said you can evaluate the album as a whole, just dont get the length thing because its really only an issue if you listen to it in one sitting, which you dont have to do because its 2 separate albums
I think disc 2 would of benefit from having some tracks cut too not because it made the album too long but because of quality wise

I said the album needed to be cut down, i.e we don't need all 24 of these tracks because some of them are weaker/superfluous. Losing them would improve the overall quality of the album
If you agree, Idk what the disagreement here is
And I don't understand why you're distinguishing between album length and quality of tracks. If you think songs could've been cut from an album to improve its quality - you believe the album should've been shorter
A little too long, but overall its a good project to enjoy throughout your life.
OP seems like he grew up on something not Hip Hop.

You know what you're right I confused your post saying it needs cutting with another post saying its too long so my bad on that
I'm making that distinction because I feel there's a difference with saying "i dont like this track, it should be cut" compared to "this album is too long, this track should of been cut so it can be shorter"
Like if he replace Only You with another song I would be fine because the length isnt the issue its that the song is weak

The entire 2nd half is peak besides What If imo so I ain’t gonna list those off.
Wait OP didn’t even explain why it’s a 6/10 lmao
He just tackled 2 tracks.
nigga listened to 2 songs and came here to post. niggas so lame
we get it, niggas dont like Cole. he cant make good songs, or make good albums. he doesnt really talk about anything and when he does, its stale. the album is bloated and bland and every other buzzword in between. we got it guys
thank you for sharing your very unique, never heard before, groundbreaking opinion

I guess my criticism is mainly length. I just don't think J Cole has enough in his bag to keep the listener captivated for over an hour and a half. I don't really care if it's two separate discs, it's delivered as one album and J Cole doesn't switch things up enough for me to consider them as 2 separate albums
One disc with some tracks from 29 and some tracks from 39 would've been a better album imo

I like What If a lot. It risks being corny but he pulls it off and the production helps a lot

Yeah the production almost saves it but growing up with the real story makes the sentiment too jarring and corny for me.

I feel like you can't really combine discs tho because the point of disc 1 is him falling out of love and distancing himself from 3 aspects of his life while disc 2 is him embracing and the rekindling of that love. And his perspective in the lyrics correlate with that. Feel like the album would be more of a mess if he combined it into one.
Hearing songs like Run a train then hearing the whole world is ville, would of been tonal whiplash because the perspective on both are too far from each other

Great delivery and flow have got people thinking Cole is a better rapper than he actually is
