This s*** was coo I liked it

Sometimes I need to take myself away from being a huge Marvel fan, so with that said

They really did not give the GA a backstory of Galactus at all. They barely did with Silver Surfer. I don't even think the GA would understand the exact reason why Galactus wants Franklin specifically. We know because we know what Franklin's powers are

    =/

I enjoyed Johnny and Thing way more than Reed in this, even Sue tbh

Johnny was the star imo. Like that they highlighted his intelligence pretty well in this and gave him a prominent role

Thing was cool but they didn't really give him much to do. I think they mastered him and Johnny's pairing tho

Im glad he wasn't just a himbo, that would've been easy to do but extremely disappointing

This movie is probably hitting at an 8/10 for me, but it really kills me to know that this could have easily been in the 9s with an additional 10 minutes or so i) highlighting the team in action/using their powers, ii) giving us a glimpse of their personalities outside of the Baxter Building and in the real world, and iii) with a more fleshed out introduction to Galactus.

The cast is really strong — I fully buy into all of them as their characters, especially Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Visually, he’s a monster, but it’s his heart and softness that truly captivate. The team’s chemistry is amazing and thinking back to the press tour, it’s incredibly clear how genuine that connection is. With that said, while I love Ebon’s performance, The Thing clearly takes a back-seat here while Reed, Sue, and Johnny are highlighted.

The action in this movie was lacking; I wasn’t even sure that we were going to get to see Reed do anything and when we did, it was admittedly dumb. I would have liked to see him distort his body in different ways and even see some Marvel Rivals-esque moves. The movie states that they have had their powers for 4 years, but it seemed like Reed’s first time outside of his lab.

I wish that we were able to see Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben in the real world, buying more than just black and white cookies on Yancy Street. Let’s see Johnny on dates, Sue and Reed out to dinner, SOMETHING. They were in the Baxter Building the entire movie. Shakman created this beautiful world and we really only got a high-level glimpse into it.

How is any non-comic fan supposed to understand who Galactus is? He was given absolutely zero backstory and was in this movie a lot less than I anticipated. I feel like some context behind not only him, but his exact reason for wanting Franklin would have created higher stakes for this movie. Does the general audience really understand why Galactus would want Franklin and his powers? It was briefly explained within a single breathe, but I don’t think many people picked up on that outside of the comic-heads.

In conclusion, this could arguably have been a top 5 MCU movie if the things I mentioned hadn’t been missing. Still, it’s a great representation of the Fantastic Four and most importantly, gives us actual character development, something that was seemingly forgotten at Marvel over the last few years. I’m excited to see them not only together again, but also separately as they interact with our other favorite characters.

Movie was good. Not the complete winner Marvel was probably hoping for.

The movie was super rushed in the beginning, felt like I was watching it at 1.5x, it just feels like a different movie compared to the rest of it. They definitely butchered it in the editing room. Idk why they're so hellbent on keeping these movies at the 2 hr mark since like 2022. I believe they should have started the movie with a proper battle between F4 and some villain, instead of the rushed heroic montage, would've helped in the action department as well, which was severely lacking.
People weren't wrong about the visuals. The entire sequence of their space travel is probably one of the best ever made in MCU and movies about space in general. Such a step above everything else Marvel has been doing visuals wise in years.
Pedro killed it, he's 2/2 with this and Materialists this year, need to watch Eddington still. Thing and Sue were good too. Herbie clears all those f***ass Star Wars bots with ease.
Johnny could've been a little better, felt like he wasn't given as much to do with as compared to others.
The final act was a losing battle for Marvel, I don't think they could have satisfied with the action during that unless they gave Galactus an army, which wouldn't have made sense tbh. That's why I feel like the movie should've started with an action sequence of them just saving the day.

The RDJ hype is real, man wasn't even on the screen and still got the biggest cheers from the entire movie.

Movie is like a 7.5/10, could've been waaaay better and that's what pisses me off more than anything.

I heard about the Malkovich one but assumed it was just another part of the montage.
If they had a proper action sequence ready then they definitely should've started with it and shown them saving the day -> 4 year celebration -> then that montage

Yeah that was important plot wise but I felt they didn't show him as this proper charming stud, just an average comic relief MCU character.
