I don't hate it, but imo everything Wukong is doing you can find better in other games like Nioh, Lies of P, Stellar Blade etc...so the praise that game is getting seems so misplaced. Am I wrong to think a GOTY nominee shouldn't have obvious design flaws like the invisible walls?

(Don't get me wrong tho, the sequel should be 100x better and probably will be a real GOTY candidate)

That’s fair, I just think it’s a hell of a game considering it’s the studios very first. I think that’s part of what makes it impressive

I dont think other games being better at some things really makes a great discussion about goty. Wukong also excells in aspects where the others dont like the beautiful animation and OST. You can pick apart any game that won GOTY in a similar way. Its the overall package imo that counts.

People love Wukong the story gets quite emotional in the end with some of the best bosses we have. Alot of people adore this game and everything about it that should be more valid than being hung up on game design philosophy.

That's my other thing, Stellar Blade and Lies of P were those studios first AAA console games too...but Wukong is for sure a good first game

Hellldivers the multiplayer game of the decade so far and the only new 2020s multiplayer game that didnt crash and burn and is also not filled with standard modern multiplayer bullshit, also a good time with boys every other weekend

Dragons Dogma 2 I havent played a lot yet even tho I like it so it gets an HM
