With its hits, cultural significance that spanned an entire era in hip-hop, has stood the test of time for damn near 20 years, still holds up to this day, was a major influence on many rappers after it, and how it catapulted an artist into supe om damn near over night...please explain to us how Get Rich or Die Tryin, is not a classic hip-hop album.
how does it hold up today lmao it has not aged very well
and once again, being very successful commercially does not make an album a classic. if that were the case then all of drakes albums would apparently be classics

I see you just gonna skip pass cultural significance and influence on rappers both contemporaries of 50 Cent and rappers who came up after...
We get it b. Ya got nothing and you just wanted to be different. Just say that.
Like I swear y'all just be trying so hard to be a contrarian even when it makes absolutely no sense. You ain't gotta like the album. S*** I didn't even care for it back when it dropped and I still don't. But I'm not gonna sit up here and lie like that s*** hasn't been everywhere since it dropped for the last 20 years.
i don’t even think the album is bad or anything, it’s fine.
i just don’t see what warrants it classic status.
Not to mention

I am well aware of 50’s cultural influence, I’m talking about the album itself
people really saying GROTD sounds dated? Lock thread
how does it not sound dated. just listen to that opening track

you can’t talk about 50’s influence without grodt. they are bound to one another. there is more to labeling an album (a piece of art in time) as classic than just the music.

What Up Gangsta still goes hard whenever/wherever it comes on...

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WHpQVMZbjoit’s okay..
but again how does it not sound dated lol it screams early 00s
it’s okay..

Of course, because every album sounds like a product of it's time. It doesn't mean it doesn't transcend it's ability to hit at any year afterwards
I think we just have different parameters of what "timeless" means

i don’t disagree but even still to be a classic an album does have to be great. otherwise what is the point
it’s okay..

And Illmatic screams early 90s...does that make it any less of a classic?
Also to keep on topic.. Game giving himself too much credit. They're both 1-1 with The Documentary and GRODT. Game has a 7 album run of SOLID albums up until The Documentary 2.5

The album is great to a large majority of people. Just because you don’t think so doesn’t mean it’s not a classic album.
It’s one of the most straightforward examples of a classic album by all merits.

an album being timeless means holding up over the years and still sounding as good as it did back then.
i do not think GRODT has held up like that
And Illmatic screams early 90s...does that make it any less of a classic?
yet still sounds just as great and fresh today. time has been very kind to it

oh idk man I’ve seen plenty of hate on GRODT over the years, to the point where I’ve actually defended it a fair bit.
as for me, I think it’s alright.
don’t see how it’s an example of a “classic by all merits” though it’s a decent pop rap album but cmon now
yet still sounds just as great and fresh today. time has been very kind to it
Illmatic sounds more dated than grodt lmao
Illmatic sounds more dated than grodt lmao
illmatic is a decade older than GRODT
my point is how much illmatic holds up today in comparison
