What happening?
Scottie Scheffler is dominating.
But Tiger is doing solid. Back to +1. Needs to two-putt on 18 to get out of here at that score. He has a long putt coming.
not much drama here. too bad.
this was really cool tho. rory is done and sits 3 back. scheffler has 5 holes left, just needs to not implode.
I understand high level what's going on with Phil, but this is pretty nuts. Is the Saudi league starting soon? It's a very interesting thing that's happening in terms of the future of the sport and my instinct is that I just want the PGA to stay way it's always been. I don't want there to be some new Saudi league... like what, Phil isn't rich enough as-is?
But idk what to make of it all tbh.

phil lost a ton of money gambling, but PGA clearly needs some tweaking. if it wasnt the case, there wouldnt have been so many people considering the saudi league.
idk who tf pereira and zalatoris are
Pereira has never even made a cut at a major before. He is seriously out of nowhere. Would be a good story if he hangs on and wins.

damn that's lit. golf tournies are great fun. a major especially.
LIV got their guys!
I'm not too bothered by the dramatics of this story. I don't think this will spell the beginning of the end for the PGA, though obviously it hurts their business. The majors will still be the majors and that's mostly all I personally care about.
The thing that does interest me is the business model of the LIV league. I haven't read much about it - maybe it's not even known. But they're putting so much money up - offering Jack Nicklaus $100 million.. like what? Dude is so old, he's not even a player he's just an icon and they offered him that much to endorse the league? Wow. They offered Tiger close to a billion, reportedly. Are these owners just rich ass oil guys who have more money than they know what to do with? Is there a chance this league will be profitable? Where is this s*** going to be televised?
Curious about the business side.

saudi payroll so high, im not sure the business model so to speak is in play yet. maybe itll take more shape if more players continue to sign on, but atm its throwing darts at a board hoping theyll stick.

It’s funded by the Saudi government and all of this money is basically nothing to them. It’ll never be profitable but it doesn’t matter because their motive isn’t money. Their motive is to improve their image.
fantastic event today. couldn’t have scripted it better for the PGA. (relative) no name wins at LIV, star wins on the Tour. can’t wait for the US Open

I’m interested to see how the crowd treats the LIV guys
