    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranked_voting

although i cynically enjoy that the same thing seems to happen every year with the albums "people actually listen to" splitting the vote leading to a relative unknown winning, now that its nonblack artists losing, and the black artist with the least well known album getting the W (as opposed to the other way around), something must be done! (SATIRE) (PARODY) (SARCASM)

    how do you figure
you really telling me that at least one of those years where a bunch of black pop artists are nominated so one of them win doesn't go differently with ranked choice (look at the year kacey musgraves won for instance)

I figure if say this year was ranked choice some pop star would win

BUT this year was stacked with pop stars, so they all split the vote so they all didn’t get enough votes and Jon Batiste somehow was in first place. Same thing happened when Kacey won I believe. If it was ranked choice. Most likely the pop star would win most years

  • Apr 4, 2022

    from 2010 to now

    taylor swift x3
    arcade fire
    adele x2
    mumford & sons
    daft punk
    beck
    bruno mars
    kacey musgraves
    billie eilish
    jon batiste

where are the "unknowns" besides this year's winner?

You have no idea how anyone vote because there's no transparency.

Yes, the Grammy voting has definitely been fugazi for years, but leaving it in the hands of fans with fan voting is never the solution. The stan wars would get to catastrophic levels and I could see artists and their fans easily manipulating the system for that. You'd also see many artists who make genuinely great music probably never get a shot at winning a Grammy again because even if they do amass a popular and supportive following, they won't be able to compete with the fanbases of a very established artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Drake, etc.

It’s my best guess I honestly got no idea. I’m assuming they give it to whoever gets the most votes

    Yea for sure
If Wiggins being an all-star starter doesn’t show how garbage public opinion is on s*** like this then nothing will
